I made the same pattern for my granddaugter who just turned 9. I made her a quilt for her double bed. She just loved it. You did a great job and it is a quilt that they will keep forever.

Wonderful!! How did you make the butterflies?? Are they appliqued?, painted? please share your secret! I love butterflies!
Babies love the contrast of bright and dark, so I say PERFECT!!
Besides it so cute and girlie!! |
I think it's beautiful. She'll love the colors of it.
It is gorgeous. The last few baby showers I have gone to for the younger mothers seem to have more bright colors and less pastels.

It's gorgeous! Babies love strong visual contrast. Smart to put the name so large and prominent, so when she drags it to preschool, it doesn't get swiped!
The bright colors will probably attract the babys eye. It looks very nice. I am sure you will "see" something different every time you look at it.
Beautiful quilt, perfect for a baby girl, wouldn't change a thing!
I like the striking colors! They are fine for a baby, and she won't stay a baby for long! It's beautiful!
love your butterflies
I love your quilt! And so will Grace Elizabeth! I'm sure she'll have it forever!! Your butterfies are so colorful! Nice job!
That is beautiful!! I love the colors...lucky girl!!
I love it. So beautifully done and as many others have stated, babies love bright colors!
Very very pretty!!! Terrific job!!!
Adorable quilt and I don't think it is too dark. I think it's very pretty and very girly. My daughter had our first grand daughter in sept. and she sometimes dresses her in grey and black. Now THAT I could possibly say is too dark, at least for my taste.
It's perfect! It's a quilt that she will use for years to come and never out grow. Great job! Love the colors you chose.
Baby's love color and that is so very colorful that I am sure it will work just wonderfully!
I think it's great for a baby quilt....it's beautiful!!!

Beautiful quilt and sweet name.
I love it.
Beautiful!
Just gorgeous! And just think...you've made her something that she can use long after her baby stage is over.

Thank you everyone for your wonderful compliments!! You have all convinced me that I didn't "break the baby quilt rules"!! By the way, I posted this at 2am when I woke up and couldn't fall back to sleep and must have been out of my mind. The pattern came from www.e-patternscentral.com. Click on quilting then on wall hangings and then on classics. The quilt should be the first one shown.
Also, just so you know, the butterflies on the borders were not part of the pattern. I thought the border looked a little blah, so I took the butterfly template and reduced it on my copier to either 65 or 75% of the original size to make the butterflies to applique on the borders. Just wanted to let you know because I got a couple of PM's asking about the pattern. Thanks everyone!! |
Beautiful, suitable for a Baby Girl. Great job.
So cute.
Any girl would be lucky to receive this one. |
I think it is beautiful and will be fine for an infant. Today's babies use a lot of dark colors and bright colors. It was hard for me to understand when my DDIL asked for brown/blue and brown/pink for our twin grandchildren 2 years ago. That is just the way it is now. I think your DD will be very happy with your quilt.

That looks like tons of work for a baby to drag around and throw up on. Perhaps it will hang on the wall, or just be decorative. It is sophisticated and yet whimsical and very beautiful. Gracie will get more quilts as you get to know her better. Perhaps some simpler ones too.

Gorgeous quilt, you did a beautiful job!
My cousin has requested to make her (2) toddler girl butterfly quilts (appliques, of course), but I already have in mind what I'll be making for the little girls. I like yours. |
Beautiful Quilt
lovely!
I think the colors are awesome. I don't really like the pastel baby colors anyway. . . your's are more eye-catching.
I love butterfly quilts, and this one is wonderful. I love the colors. I find that the younger generation tends to go with other than "baby colors". You did a great job on this quilt.
Cute quilt. I think there is enough bright colors to offset the dark color.
Beautiful!! She's a lucky little girl. The brights have really grown on me....times are 'a changing.
Beautiful!
Good job. |
I think she will love crawling around on it trying to catch the butterflies.
beautiful
