Thank you all for your lovely comments. I've been making strips for awhile now and I'm pretty quick with putting them together. I do cut the batting about 1 3/4" rather than 2 1/2". It makes it easier to fold. The most difficult part is keeping the strips straight when zig sagging them together. I also use a 4 stitch zig zag which is sturdier than the regular one. It is #4 on a Bernina. They have a tendency to curve a bit pulling the piece out of square. It is a very time consuming process, but I love it when it's all done. I make several round style, this is my first flat style. You also need a workhorse of a machine and a jeans needle. Masonite used to be the brand name. I think it is now called Hardboard.

Love this - need to put it on the "list"! The Masonite with holes in it is usually used to put hooks in, so that you can hang tools, etc. on it.
