Batik Quilt, Successfully Salvaged
2 Attachment(s)
Funny thing is, this was my original idea for this quilt. I didn't want to compete with the batiks or the design. In spite of the material used, I thought of it as rather modern, so simple primitive quilting turned out to be the best.
I continued to remove threads, while it was on the LA, I found more threads while I was attaching the binding. There can't be anymore. Now I really like It. Hope you approve. MaryKatherine |
Very pretty. Great job.

I love it. I have so many batiks guess I will have to copy you. OK? You did a super job. What is the name of the pattern please? BrendaK

beautiful quilt! Those batiks really shine with that quilting ... so glad you took the time to take out all those stitches to make it better.
|
It's beautiful. I love the colors you chose.

Very nice work - it is beautiful!

Beautiful! I love batiks. I love the pattern you chose and your quilting is perfect for it.
|
Your quilting is perfect. You always want your quilting to enhance the piecing not distract from the pretty batiks. GREAT JOB !!
|
nicely done
|
WOW! I actually liked your first efforts on this and I was surprised when you thought it a disaster. But now that I see your original vision for this quilt, I have to agree. The simple linear quilting really makes this already beautiful quilt shine! Great job MK.

I'm not crazy about batiks, but this is beautiful!!

I am in the process of doing a sport quilt for my dgs with blocks that have a similar look. So it looks like you did straight line quilting with some lines closer together and some not, both vertically and horizontally. Is that correct? I really like the look and think it would work on my quilt .... which will probably get abused somewhat so I want to keep it somewhat simple. Love your quilt!!!

Great quilting choice for a wonderful result!
|
A very pretty batik quilt.

Gorgeous.....the quilting design is perfect for that quilt.
|
very pretty :)

Had to go back and check your previous thread but you were right about the simple lines of the new quilting. It is amazing how the quilting can make or break the finished quilt. It looks fantastic with the modern simple lines.
|
Looks really great with the straight lines. Your intuition was right on - curvy lines just didn't do it justice. Once you have worked with batiks, you don't want to go back, but I have a stash full of regular cottons that have to be used - sigh-h-h-h. I see one like this in my future. Perhaps my daughter will inherit all my regular cottons.
