I made this Swinging Checkerboards pattern from QuiltedTwins.com, with my batik scraps and white muslin.

And also finished this man's lap quilt with wood ducks, quilted simply.

Very pretty. Good use of scraps

QuiltnNan 08-06-2019 02:17 AM

both are very well done

SusieQOH 08-06-2019 02:24 AM

Both are wonderful!!! That checkerboard is awesome.

jmoore 08-06-2019 02:47 AM

Wonderful pattern... scrap friendly. It turned out great. I imagine you have a great stash of fabric.

Bug Lady 08-06-2019 02:59 AM

Love them! Thanks for sharing. Karen

Just wondering if you changed the size of the squares for the Swinging Checkerboards? Maybe 2.5" rather than the 2". Like the pattern but 93 X 100+ is a bit large for me "man-handle". Lovely finish and obviously inspiring a number of us.

Battle Axe 08-06-2019 03:30 AM

Thanks for the suggestion of how to use my batik scraps. I hope mine turns out as nice as yours.

NZquilter 08-06-2019 03:57 AM

I love how your batiks are so bright with the white background. Lovely scrappy!

Your lap quilt is sure to make a guy happy!

granky 08-06-2019 04:27 AM

Love the Swinging Checkerboards!

osewme 08-06-2019 04:40 AM

Great looking quilts.

Beautiful scrappy, Sewbizgirl. I love the set in triangles being scrappy too. I have never thought of scrapping that up. I always think I have to find enough of a single fabric. Kind of hard for scrappy girls! Thank you for posting. Looks great.

sJens 08-06-2019 05:06 AM

Great job on both quilts. Love the quilting on the Batik scrappy.

Thanks! Yes, I used my 2.5" stash of batik scrap squares and everything came out a bit bigger, so less blocks needed to get to the size I wanted. I've done several QuiltedTwins.com patterns with 2.5" squares, rather than 2", because that's what I have.

This one ended up 60"x68", for a twin bed.

Lovely quilts

Your quilts are beautiful. I especially like the first one and that is a great idea of using white muslin. May I ask where you purchase your white muslin? I have been going to LQS to get white on white fabrics but it is getting quite pricey and your muslin looks so nice on your quilt.

TheMerkleFamily 08-06-2019 08:11 AM

Beautiful SBG! Scrappy and batiks are a perfect combination for my liking :) You & your Juki are working quite well together and turning out some beautiful quilts!!

I buy the "premium muslin" at JoAnn's... with a coupon! They have some nice bleached and unbleached muslins, smooth and tight weave just like regular cottons. I don't like it too thin, so I always check them out by placing my hand underneath one layer to see if I like the thickness.

Wonderful quilts.. Great choice in the colors.

MicheleC 08-06-2019 08:50 AM

Great job on both quilts!

oksewglad 08-06-2019 12:01 PM

Two more delightful quilts. Isn't it amazing what 1/2" difference makes?

barny 08-06-2019 12:07 PM

All of these quilts are so-so pretty. You have done a beautiful job.

Jordan 08-06-2019 01:51 PM

Thank you Sewbizgirl for your quick reply on the muslin. I will take a look at our JoAnn's. There is one just down the street from me and I always get coupons.

You are welcome... I think the one I buy is 108" wide, if that helps you find it. They have a variety of different qualities, but you'll know a good one when you touch it.

ccthomas 08-06-2019 04:08 PM

Nice quilts.

elly66 08-06-2019 04:11 PM

Yup, that is where I get my white and cream muslin. It has never failed me but I absolutely by the best JoAnn's offers.

terriamn 08-07-2019 04:40 AM

Great quilts Sewbiz.

lorimax5859 08-07-2019 05:39 AM

They are wonderful. What a beautiful arrangement for your batik scraps!

That turned out great! Good job.

Wonderful use of scraps. Beautiful quilts.

quiltmaker52 08-07-2019 10:01 AM

Beautiful quilt! I am fortunate to live only an hour from Quilted Twins. The shop is a warehouse and the fabrics are overwhelming. You can’t beat their prices!

cashs_mom 08-07-2019 10:35 AM

Wow, more of your amazing scrappy quilts. I just love your work.

RedGarnet222 08-07-2019 10:38 AM

This is great sewbizgirl! I really need to begin using my bins of scraps.
