This quilt was made from a kit, all the pieces were pre-cut. Good thing because I NEVER would have made it otherwise! It's quilted with a variegated thread.

I've attached two views because I can't decide which way to hang it. Please tell me if you prefer it horizontal or vertical!

Beautiful! and I like it vertical.

Jim's Gem 02-19-2010 01:02 PM

Beautiful!!! I think it should go vertical as well.

paintedquilt 02-19-2010 01:04 PM

I would prefer it in my home :!: Since that will not happen  , I like both, sorry ;)

justme 02-19-2010 01:04 PM

BKinCO 02-19-2010 01:05 PM

Beautiful quilt, love the colors
first picture definely :D

Fantastic job! I like it either way, but forced to the wall would do the vertical.

Is this a John Flynn precut kit? I did the Wheel of Mystery and loved the way the batiks didn't ravel. I just received my set of J.F. acrylic templates so I can work on a sampler block for our guild friendship exchange.

Thanks for sharing!!!!!!!!!!!!

elfvinnd 02-19-2010 01:52 PM

I agree that it should go vertical. It is absolutely beautiful. I've always wanted to make this pattern but haven't gotten around to it yet. Was it super hard?

n2scraplvr 02-19-2010 01:52 PM

Beautiful job! Prefer the horizontal position best as the focus is lost in the vertical view. Looks good either way though. :-D :-D

Quilt4u 02-19-2010 01:55 PM

Beautiful and vertical.

barnbum 02-19-2010 01:56 PM

Wowzers! That is gorgeous. I like horizontal, but turned upside down.

No, it wasn't super hard as all the pieces were cut for me. Laying it out was more difficult than the sewing.

jewelps 02-19-2010 02:04 PM

pretty

k3n 02-19-2010 02:08 PM

Beautiful! I vote vertical, I think the flow works better that way. :-D

I like the first one best. It looks like ribbons are entwined or weaving through each other. Very Pretty. The other does not look like that to my eyes.

nativetexan 02-19-2010 02:44 PM

that is fabulous!!! love the colors too. :-D

quiltsRfun 02-19-2010 03:09 PM

I agree, pre-cut was the way to go with this one. You've done a beautiful job on this quilt. It's the first storm at sea I've seen in batik. It gives the design a whole new look and I love it.

LisaT 02-19-2010 03:23 PM

Love it!! I vote vertical.

Oklahoma Suzie 02-19-2010 03:24 PM

very nice.

I agree - the vertical is hard to see the whole thing at once. However, it depends on your space.

craftydiana 02-19-2010 04:01 PM

Absolutely georgeous quilt! Go vertical!

belmer 02-19-2010 04:02 PM

dkabasketlady 02-19-2010 05:28 PM

I like it vertical, but horizontally is nice also!! It looks completely different.

coastienest 02-19-2010 06:40 PM

I love the color choices and I too prefer it vertical without a doubt. A Storm at Sea is on my to do list and hopefully will wipe that list out soon

DeniseB 02-19-2010 07:34 PM

Another beautiful and stunning quilt. Vertical looks good.

MissTreated 02-19-2010 07:44 PM

blahel 02-19-2010 10:31 PM

i like the first photo..and one day when i grow in my quilting capabilities I would like to make a quilt exactly like yours. Beautiful..

dglvr 02-19-2010 11:47 PM

Its beautifal. I wouldn't want the job of precutting it.
You really have to look to see its all straight edges.
You did an awesome job. And either way looks fabulous.
It would look really fabulous on my wall too.

Esqmommy 02-20-2010 08:25 AM

Beautiful quilt! Way to go. I like the vertical for hanging.

RedGarnet222 02-20-2010 08:54 AM

Wow! What a quilt! I like it vertical, myself.
