Contemplating border or no border? Black, green or pink? Planning to put black binding on it.

cherylynne 07-24-2010 06:39 PM

I would use a narrow border and a wider outer boarder. Not sure what colors, but the borders give the eye a place to rest.

spinnergs 07-24-2010 06:39 PM

border would depend on what finished size, but I would vote for a green border with black binding

jetnica 07-24-2010 06:40 PM

skinny black then a wider of your favorite (pink or green)

it would also help tie in the black binding.

I would be happy to give this one a home when you're done with it!!

DebraK 07-24-2010 06:41 PM

I want some melon!

Ladymurphy 07-24-2010 06:43 PM

I think small black then pink.
Love the quilt.

1quilt_gma 07-24-2010 06:48 PM

yum!

franie 07-24-2010 06:51 PM

I agree with the purple turtle.

johnette 07-24-2010 06:57 PM

This one is going to my granddaughter. Her room colors are watermelon, lime green and black. So that's how I came up with this. It went really fast and was the most enjoyable top I have made.

mom-6 07-24-2010 07:08 PM

I think I'd go with a narrow black border, somewhat wider pink border then use the green for the binding, to complete your watermelon look.

Really pretty quilt!

Candace 07-24-2010 07:58 PM

Love it.

wvdek 07-24-2010 09:02 PM

No border, black binding.

Really pretty quilt!

I like this idea!!

johnette 07-25-2010 06:10 AM

Good suggestions, everyone. I like Mom-6's idea. May go with that one, but still debating. I want it to be just a little wider but it is long enough so don't want to get too wild with the borders.

lauriejo 07-25-2010 06:19 AM

Oh she is going to love this. I like Sharon's idea of a dark green border and then black binding.

I agree with this - need a narrow black first, other wise if you use the pink or green first it will bleed/continue with the like colored blocks.

it almost has an Hawaiian flavor.

Sewlmatesister 07-26-2010 04:24 AM

No border, black binding.

kacy 49 07-26-2010 05:50 AM

Hey Johnette really cute quilt. Love your colors. I think small black and wider pink with black or the green binding.

CarrieAnne 07-26-2010 06:13 AM

Really cute!

catrancher 07-26-2010 08:11 AM

I like the idea of a black border with either a pink or green binding.

Pineapple Princess 07-26-2010 10:50 AM

Very nice!

littlehud 07-26-2010 02:09 PM

I would just go with a black binding. That is the perfect name for that quilt.

Mariposa 07-26-2010 05:03 PM

Love the bright quilt! I vote a small black border, then a bigger pink one~

Jingle 07-26-2010 05:37 PM

I would put a black border on it to bring out the black in it. I think borders frame a quilt - like a picture frame does a picture.

Dee 07-26-2010 05:45 PM

I agree with the thin black border.

Annz 07-26-2010 07:29 PM

Very nice. Hard to say which color you should pick.. How about a very light pink that you find in the pink colors of the flowers?

Unless you need the extra width and/or length I would skip the borders and go straight to the black binding.
