When you said raw edge applique, does that mean you stitched the applique so that the edges will fray like a rag quilt or did you zig zag or blanket stitch around the raw edges? Either way would certainly work with this fun childs quilt. Edited to add, I agree with Dunster, perfect use of polka dot fabric.
