This is a customer quilt I made. She wanted all blue fabrics in the Trip around the world pattern and she wanted me to select the fabrics. I never really wanted to quilt for money because I thought it might then feel like a job.(it did) I charged her $400 and kept track of all my costs and time. It came out to $4/hr. Even at $600 it would have come out to $7.30/hr. ($160 for fabric, thread etc and 60hrs of work.) And this was a simple pattern and simple FMQ. I did count the meeting with her and shopping and planning the layout. It's a Queen with a 12" drop on each side.
On the plus side I loved the fabrics and colors and she said the quilt exceeded her expectations and was thrilled with it. I loved the quilt also and wished I could have kept it for myself. |
It does look lovely.....and now you have more money to buy fabric or something else for your sewing room! :o)

Love the quilt. Good for you, keeping detailed records like that. Glad your customer likes it! Would you ever do it again?

That's BEAUTIFUL !!! U did a fantastic job !

It's gorgeous! I think quilting is more of a "money eater" than a "money maker" for most!

I wasn't sure I would like all one color palette, but it is gorgeous.
