This is a customer quilt I made. She wanted all blue fabrics in the Trip around the world pattern and she wanted me to select the fabrics. I never really wanted to quilt for money because I thought it might then feel like a job.(it did) I charged her $400 and kept track of all my costs and time. It came out to $4/hr. Even at $600 it would have come out to $7.30/hr. ($160 for fabric, thread etc and 60hrs of work.) And this was a simple pattern and simple FMQ. I did count the meeting with her and shopping and planning the layout. It's a Queen with a 12" drop on each side.

On the plus side I loved the fabrics and colors and she said the quilt exceeded her expectations and was thrilled with it. I loved the quilt also and wished I could have kept it for myself.

Love the quilt. Good for you, keeping detailed records like that. Glad your customer likes it! Would you ever do it again?

It's gorgeous! I think quilting is more of a "money eater" than a "money maker" for most!

I wasn't sure I would like all one color palette, but it is gorgeous.

Agree that our "hobby" is a "money eater".

It's really pretty. You said the exact reason I won't quilt for hire- feels like a job.
You did a beautiful job on that !!

Thank You! And I might do it again because it is good to get more money. I'm saving for a nice sewing table. But even though I liked the fabrics and pattern, I had to keep pushing myself to finish it so I could start on Christmas gift making.
