That...became...this...

On April 26, 2011, I asked some of you what I could do with a roll of pink floral that I had received in this thread. http://www.quiltingboard.com/picture...o-t119109.html
Many of you gave some suggestions. I decided to start with a rail fence. I just finished the binding on the top I made last year. I FMQed it a couple of weeks ago (still a newbie there). |
This is very pretty, I like the way the dark fabric makes the pinks pop! Nice job!
You did a wonderful job. Your quilt is very pretty!
Very pretty, nicely done!
What I failed to realize until I actually used it is was that it wasn't a regular width. I ended up trimming it which was quite tedious. At some places it was a full 2.5" wide and others, a very scant 2 1/4".
Also, I pretty much need to work from my stash since fabric is kind of hard to come by, so that's why I used such a variety of fabrics for this.
You did exactly what our ancestors did - they had very little fabric and had to 'make do'. You turned out a treasure with your creativity. Great job! Love the color combination - I never would have thought of using those colors together but you made it all come together with the green making the pinks pop. Love it!
you did a terrific job! it's a beautiful quilt.
very nice - was that roll fabric a polished cotton. Reminds me of yardage i bought over 20 years ago. I still love it!
I've been using my scrap fabric, not because fabric is hard to come by but because i have so much left overs I am determined to use, not waste. Check out Bonnie Hunters web site - scrap quilts is her speciality. I just love her, her personality, her work. I was lucky enough to spend time with her when she came to speak at our guild a few years ago. Her ideas are wonderful. |
Beautiful quilt!!!! I love all of the borders........you are very talented! :)
It looks great!!

I also had to make so many borders because I kind of ran out of green which determined that I couldn't continue with the rail fence pattern (I did have a lot more of the roll). So, since it was small, and I wanted a bed size quilt, I just kept adding borders, using colors within the floral strip itself.

beautiful quilt . love the color combo and the borders.
Wow! that is sooo pretty. I bet the person that sold it to you is envious! Great job!

I LOVE your quilt and your creativity. I have 2 yards of fabric that I want to use as an accent in a quilt and had no idea what to do. I hope you don't mind if I borrow some of your idea. it is perfect for the amount of fabric that I have. Thank you for sharing.

Love that border! It really finishes the quilt. You did a great job on this quilt, both piecing and quilting.

Very well done! And thank you for updating us on what you did. I love your awkward floral strip, and I think your hard work has paid off!

oh wow, great job!!!
When you are making do - and using the bits that might be tedious - you are making a quilt in its original form. The way our ancestors did. I like this approach and your result. Haste makes waste and you were the lucky one to find the right way to use what you have. This is a very pretty quilt!
Wow who would have known it would look this great, well done with your quilt, its Gorgeous.
