Beginnings

2 Attachment(s)
I am currently working on Way to many projects at one time. I have to finish two quilts for a couple of my Grandchildren first, then I want to finish these. The first ( I hope) is the first segment of a Bali Wedding Star, and the second is a Sunbonnet Sue and Overall Sam for my sister. I tried to post the Mariner's compass, but it failed 3 different times. Not sure why. Hope you enjoy a peek at the beginnings. I will post all as finished

Those will be beautiful quilts! Keep on keeping on with them!

Tartan 07-13-2013 02:15 PM

Your Bali Wedding Star is going to be beautiful, is it paper pieced? Very cute Sunbonnet Sue and Sam.

franc36 07-13-2013 02:16 PM

Love your blocks! Can't wait to see your completed quilts!

Elise1 07-13-2013 04:31 PM

They both are great, but I love the wedding star block. Is that as hard as it looks? Such gorgeous colors.

sahm4605 07-13-2013 05:08 PM

Tracy Delegal 07-13-2013 05:25 PM

Very nice beginnings! I love the colors in the wedding star!

suebee 07-13-2013 05:26 PM

Your Bali Wedding Star is gorgeous...Ive been wanting to that one for a long time...but if memory serves me right the pattern was ridiculously expensive...I know it includes the paper piecingpatterns, but still.... anyway..yours is truly beautiful.

mighty 07-13-2013 06:13 PM

Wonderful work!

leakus 07-13-2013 06:16 PM

Beautiful. As for the picture. Is it small enough to be uploaded?

petthefabric 07-13-2013 09:29 PM

My 2cents worth: the Bali Star is expensive. In this case you get what you pay for. It's a beautiful quilt and very complicated. The directions are very accurate and long for this complicated quilt. The paper pieces are beautifully made. It takes uninterupted concentration. The results are worth the challenge. And the creator of this pattern deserves the reward of their labor.

You go girl, you can do it. One block at a time and eventually it'll be done.

gabeway 07-14-2013 04:47 AM

They should turn out great.

Diane007 07-14-2013 05:11 AM

very nice blocks.....

Lady Jane 07-14-2013 05:52 AM

twinkie 07-15-2013 04:28 AM

Looks very difficul to me. I love it.

GailG 07-15-2013 04:31 AM

I love the wedding star. It looks a lot too complicated for my brain. The S and S are precious.

brod71 07-15-2013 06:26 AM

Wow can't wait to see your bali wedding star finished and Sue Bonnet and Overall Sam are sew cute!

klgls 07-15-2013 07:04 AM

Such totally different patterns - and they are both great!!!

cpcarolyn 07-15-2013 07:08 AM

Beautiful quilt. Great blocks.

rosalynd 07-15-2013 07:48 AM

How do you attach you Sues and Sams to the background block? I'm thinking of trying one of these someday soon.

MargeD 07-15-2013 08:08 AM

You're not alone, I know I have way too many quilts going at once, but eventually they get done (I hope - LOL). I love your Bali Wedding Star - gorgeous.

mjhaess 07-15-2013 09:12 AM

Those are great...

Sandrea 07-15-2013 09:30 AM

Wow! they are all great.

suedonnie 07-15-2013 12:19 PM

I just started cutting out the paper for the Bali Wedding Star and putting off starting it. It looks hard, and is my
first paper piecing project. I hope I did not take on more than I can handle..at least I know who I can contact if I have any problems..It is just beautiful!! Maybe we can work on this together and see if we can get it finished!!

KLTQuilts 07-15-2013 01:40 PM

Very nice quilt patterns - I don't think I've ever seen the Bali Wedding Star pattern . . . beautiful. I really like Sunbonnet Sue and Overall Sam. Did you follow a pattern for Sue and Sam?

MadQuilter 07-15-2013 02:00 PM

Those colors on the first one are fabulous. Sorry but I can't comment on the Sue quilt. lol (I've done her in too many times. Bad Me!)

QuiltnMyra 07-15-2013 03:40 PM

Wow IB, lovely work!

IBQUILTIN 07-15-2013 04:26 PM

It isn't really too difficult, but you have to stay very organized or you will make a mess. I am now an honorary member of the frog club. You know, ripit ripit ripit

IBQUILTIN 07-15-2013 04:29 PM

Sounds like a wonderful idea to me. Is there a way you could do a couple of small paperpieced blocks of some kind before you actually start on it? If this is your first paperpiecing, you may get pretty frustrated. I am doing this one side by side with my BF and we are having fun with it. The instructions are very clear, just follow them to the letter. Read it all first, Take a deep breath and join us

IBQUILTIN 07-15-2013 04:30 PM

The pattern is expensive, but well worth it

nanacc 07-15-2013 04:42 PM

Your Bali is gorgeous!!!!! Love Sue and Sam! Need to get my Sue and Sam made.

red-warrior 07-20-2013 10:19 AM

You do very nice work.....can't wait to see the finished product!

ruck9085 07-21-2013 08:23 AM

I love that Bali Wedding Star! They are gorgeous, but unless they are completely paper pieced, I'm not even going to attempt one! Those arcs and curves make me crazy!!!

QUILTNMO 07-21-2013 09:58 AM

nice work!!!!!

JimsQueenie 03-25-2018 12:01 PM

Too darn funny---those are two of the quilts I have wanted to make for ages. Now to find the pattern for the Bali Wedding Star!! I have the accuquilt dies for Sunbonnet Sue and Overall Sam so I am not worried about those two. I need to make several of those!!! "Oh, a man may work from dusk to dawn but a woman's work is never done!!" lol Gosh, does that apply to quilting? I am now getting my hubby involved in piecing---he has been practicing the long arm quilting machine we have. It is far from a Gammill, but he is a natural. I never did see the finished projects. Darn it!! Peace and blessings, Vicki
