I used to live in Taiwan where bento box lunches were typical. Formerly, they were rather elegant presentations in black and red lacquered boxes. Now they are fast food. Whatever.... I wanted to try to capture that former elegance in this table runner.

Nice Bento Box tablerunner. I just did a quilt using that pattern. Mine is a little different the way fabrics are placed--I used a jelly roll.

When you make these blocks, do you do it similiar to a disappearing nine patch? Cut it into quarters and rearrange them?

I saw a way to do that on-line but chose not to. I'm old-fashioned, I guess. (as well as old) That method wouldn't allow me to have as much variety in the finished blocks. I'm scrappy at heart and like to mix things up a lot!

I have several blocks using black on white and white on black, identical prints. Used this pattern. I like the red added to yours.
