I loved strip piecing this quilt, it went together fast..can't say the same about quilting it though, although I did enjoy using the variegated thread for quilting for the first time. It is a surprise, she has no clue that I am making a quilt for her, and she is coming over this year for Christmas, I can't wait for her to get it.

Thanks for looking all, and Happy Holidays to you and yours!

You have done a beautiful job. She will love it. May I ask how did you quilt it? Did you hand quilt it or did you do it with a regular machine? Or longarm?

EagarBeez 12-21-2010 10:28 AM

your mother would love it

dphelps 12-21-2010 10:41 AM

Kimnkell,
I just quilted on my home machine, just did simple cross hatching, it was a bit of a challenge to do the middle, but it worked!

Candi,

As always, your quilts are wonderful. Have you made it home yet to present it to her? Probably a Christmas gift, but I hope you are there when she opens it. I know she'll love it!!

Melissa,
I am home, but my mom lives about 5 hours away from me, but she and the whole gang are coming over for Christmas this year, so, yes,I will present it to her and be there when she opens it  Pretty excited too.
Are you all ready for Christmas?

mpeters1200 12-21-2010 04:07 PM

Had a few setbacks for Christmas this year...just so much going on. All the shopping is done. I didn't make any quilts as gifts this year. I plan on starting all of them for next year in January.

I know the boys will be happy. They all got quilts from me last year, and haven't grown out of them yet, so none for them this year.

I'm thrilled your home. Probably feels great to be home where you have all of your space back....probably more space than when you were traveling anyway. I told hubby if he ever wants to travel when he retires, he better get me something big enough to fit my fabric and my machine!

LOL. I hear you. Hubby knows this too  I am glad your shopping is done and you are all caught up.

Merry Christmas to you and yours, Melissa.

This is beautiful. As a Mom I would cherish this coming from one of my daughters. There is nothing like getting homemade. It has more meaning a thought and keepsake memories.

That is a very nice quilt and such wonderful colors.

Thank you. How funny, this fabric(the green) was one of the first fabrics I bought for my stash when I started quilting, and so was the rust one in the quilt.

marmalade 12-22-2010 06:39 PM
