I was so impressed with your daffodils and iris that I went to her site and ordered those plus a couple of others. They were so intriguing when they got here that I immediately ordered several more!! I don't know when I'll find time to do them, but they look wonderful. What are your thoughts about doing them in batiks?

I did the poinsetta one and used some batiks, they are very pretty. I just picked my fabrics for that strictly on the correct color, regardless of types, lines, ect.

I agree, I used a few batiks in the Iris I think. And I really liked it. Batiks give the flowers depth and "imperfection" in color. Which they have in nature.

Another beautiful PP floral wall hanging! You do such a nice job on them. :)

Barbm 06-09-2010 07:29 AM

you know I really WANT to learn pp- but when you post things like this, I lose my confidence. This is gorgeous. Absolutely gorgeous.

Don't feel overwhelmed. Start with a beginner block and small project. These projects I've shown are for intermediate and above. I would try to argue a beginning PP out of trying these as a first time project.

Looks like the real McCoy. Nice job.

Candace 06-12-2010 11:48 AM

THanks for all the nice comments. I'm almost done picking the paper out of the back. The one thing I don't care for about PP....

Boston1954 06-12-2010 11:51 AM

Striking! That is a lot of work, but I bet you will smile big when it is all finished. Sometimes the smaller projects take more effort. Nice job.

annieshane 06-12-2010 11:56 AM

Candace, there just aren't words to describe this and the iris pieces. You have certainly mastered this technique. Now, if you were just closer to us to teach us to overcome our fear of this method. Your colors are outstanding and your workmanship makes the design sing!!!.

Good going! Show us more!

Candace, I'm resurrecting this thread because I was wondering if you have quilted your Birds of Paradise yet. I've purchased several of these patterns and am really curious to see how you would go about quilting them. I do alot of piecing, but send my quilts out for quilting, however I thought I might be able to do these myself.

sweet 06-17-2010 03:36 AM

It's in line:> I've got it all sandwiched now, but there is one ahead of it for quilting. She gives her quilting ideas in the directions. Sometimes I follow them, sometimes not. This size quilt is very easy to quilt on your home machine. The quilting is easy. I just do some quilting in the leaves and then some sky or cloud quilting for depth. You can do FMQ on these, but can also do straight, walking foot quilting.

nursie76 06-17-2010 06:07 AM
