Very pretty. Are the snowflakes a print on fabric or are they embroidered? I would love to do one like this. Good job.

Your runner is beautiful. Great fabric choices.

I do not have a pattern to share for this runner....a picture of this runner has been floating around Pinterest and the boards here for quite awhile. I just recreated it on my own....started with an 8 1/2" square, the batik snowflakes, and kind of log cabined it from there. I have done other patterns that are set on point, so I just fiddled with the strips until I got them right, and did not add the setting triangles. There was a post here, maybe last year, and someone posted claiming this was her design, but I don't think there was a link to her pattern....sorry I can't be more helpful....maybe someone with the original pattern will post.

The pattern is "Accent Your Focus" by Carolyn's Creative Designs. It's available online, at several different sites; prices range from $8 to $11.
Just a little sidebar, postage to me in Canada ( from the US ) ranges from $6.50 to $21.00 !! |
Your result is very attractive. I don't think I have the patience for birthing that, I might sew a 2 piece baking, like you do for a lap back pillow top.

Though your final project is absolutely terrific. Great job.

I birth most of my table runners, but I use a different method. I cut my backing about an inch longer than needed, then split it down the middle. I seam the two pieces with a large stitch and 1/2" seam, then sew the sandwich together sewing all the way around (no opening). I open the seam in the center of the backing, birth the item, then handstitch the opening closed. I can take up any extra backing fabric by pulling it into the center. If I'm really careful with my stitches I can still use the runner reversed.
I love your runner. I think I may make one similar. Thanks for the inspiration. |
I think it was worth the effort, it came out beautiful

That would be some intense labor as far as I'm concerned. Looks great!

It's beautiful! I'm too timid for the birthing method.
