Black and white
1 Attachment(s)
My guild has a challenge of black and white plus a small amount of an assigned color. I have spent the last 4 days setting up 15-20 possible challenge quilts. Here is the first of them. The blue parts are intended to be prairie points.

Here are 2 more, but I won't bore you by posting them all.

I would not be bored! I would love to see more of them!
These are awesome! I love the colors! |
I couldn't do the first one in this post - my double vision quadrupled just looking at it! But I really like the second one and the one in your first post. Such fun!
Are you doing these with a program like eq? Cool designs!

Thank you for the sweet comments. I own EQ, a gift from a departed friend. I have tried it in several versions, but hate it. Quilt Pro is my quilt program of choice. I also use their Mariner's Compass I and II. BTW, it is now on Black Friday 1/2 price sale at quiltpro.com. One of many things I like better about Quiltpro is that I don't have to name anything until I see what it should be called.
OK, Central Ohio, here comes another pair. It is one of a set I designed about 4 years ago and repurposed. Something else I have been doing for years is taking patterns I see and like (such as in quilting magazine ads), putting them into quiltpro, then playing with them until I think they are just right. DH and I often try patterns out in various colorways. Early on, my name for block #2 was magic fans, which no longer fits. Ideas? When I make it, it will be PPed and not nearly has tricky as it looks. Blue is my assigned color, but red looked better with #3 Sigh. The last block is one I did in reds for a valentine/birthday mug rug to give a friend. I just recolored it and set it up with 4 of them. |
Wow I like them all and I'm certainly not bored seeing them..
Thank you.
Wow! Very striking. Thank you for sharing.
Thanks for the Heads Up on the sale. Ordered Quilt Pro 6 and 2 Foundations and 1 quilting pattern, all for $80.00
What a neat challenge! I love B&W with accent color! Have fun.
i think the first one you posted is the best, but the designs are all great.
I'm sure you will love them. Note: You will probably want to set up sub-directories for your work ahead of creating files. You are welcome to PM me if you have questions later.
Wow all off them are so very beautiful, I will never get bored so just post some more please,
all off them are stunning. |
You have a great eye for design.
Awesome!!!!
Fun ideas for black, white and bright! :)
They are all terrific! Not boring here, very exciting to view!!
Please share more. I like the red with b/w. All are pretty. I just like the zing of the red.

I like the red better too, but it was not what I was assigned. this one, based on 54-40 or fight, I call stars along the border.
Love the 54-40 or fight coloration! They are all wonderful that have been shown though.
I have been stockpiling the black and white for another quilt for my family. It is a very fun mix to work with. |
Keep posting, please! Your designs are great. I would love to see them all.
I love all your patterns but am especially drawn to the black, red and white compass point and the 54/40 or fight. I am just now getting to the point I feel I can try something a little more challenging and these look like something I might be able to do.
You certainly have been playing! I like them all.
great blocks!!!like the blue

The manager of a locally based pharmacy has gone WAY out of her way to take care of us, so when she complemented my purse, I offered to make her one. Then I designed and made one for her 4 year old. This is my design for one side of the 6" purse. I topstitched the body of the sun in place with machine blanket stitch. I changed it so the darker purples were at the bottom.
both have pockets for LED flashlights (Mother has 4 pockets in all) and a loop for a carabiner (sp?) which has a quick release for keys. I forgot to take pix of mother's. I made this little purse last night. |

I just 'revisited' another block. I did it with blue, but red works better for me.
Photos of purse now posted.
Wow, they are amazing.
Would love to see the rest of them! So bore me!
I like all of these ideas, but the magic fans is my favorite. I see secondary quilting designs in it already! I have EQ & don't like it much, will have to check out Quilt-pro. Thanks for the tips on it. I, like you, like the reds in those blocks better than the blue, but understand your color has to be the blue. I think post #29 is the best choice of it.
Love the Tea Pot and the Hearts (but would like the hearts with red instead, I think).
Wow!!!!!, these are amazing!!!!!!!!!
WOW those are all very attractive but too difficult for me.
like them all.
Great quilts. Good job.
