Lucky Lady you have a keeper

dphelps 09-20-2010 06:02 AM

Yep, he is a keeper. I think you should make him a quilt also.

MaryAnna 09-20-2010 06:07 AM

He's a 'keeper' for sure! All men ought to take note!
Blessings,
MaryAnna

He picked out some nice fabrics! What a thoughful guy, that was really nice of him.

Ramona Byrd 09-20-2010 10:55 AM

I was in my own WM a couple of days ago and they had the same thing, 5 dollar bolts, BUT every single one of them were stretchy and would not make a good quilt.

Darn, I'll have to go back and see what they are doing now. Maybe when they get rid of the stretchy stuff they'll put out the woven cottons.

amazon 09-20-2010 11:32 AM

Definitely blessed, I think that made up for the iron incident. :-D

Windwalker 09-20-2010 05:06 PM

Today he sent me to WM to get two more bolts. The only catch was I have to use it to make costume for my DS. This is the last year our Police Athletic League will be able to use the abandoned hospital for their "Haunted Hospital" fund raiser. My son is one of the star attractions each year and he wants me to make him a costume. So I guess I'll be working on this for a few days before going back to work next week.

I tried to corner the store manager to let him know how pleased I was that they had SOME material in the store.

Annz 09-20-2010 05:27 PM

Oh what a thoughtful hubby.

deema 09-20-2010 05:29 PM

Now mind you, I have not finished my first top that I am working on but he has been so supportive.

After leaving Lowes he went to get a few things from Wal-Mart. While there he discovered two 6ft tables covered with bolts of fabric, each bolt had 5 yards and they were priced at $5.00 per bolt. He picked out 6 bolts and brought them home to me with the scissors. He had heard me complain (to no end) about Wal-Mart discontinuing their fabric the only quilting items my Wal-Mart carries is scissors, some thread and small cutting mats.

He was so excited when he returned home with all of it. And he called my co-worker's wife who is a quilter to let her know about the fabric as well.

I guess this makes up for loaning out my iron that still hasn't come home.

I am truly blessed.

I think I could fall in love with this man!! Keep him close!!

diannemc 09-21-2010 02:09 AM

How sweet..Mine would never think of doing anything like that! He might would get the scissors but fabric now way! If he did I could only imagine what it would look like!

katsewnsew 09-21-2010 03:15 AM

And why can't they look it up in their price book, or talk to the manager?

On a happier note, I bought a really nice craft table from Walmart last winter. It had a few dings on it, but nothing that effects its use, so I asked the clerk if the price could be reduced because of the damage. She called her store manager, who asked me what I wanted to pay. So I told her a price that was about 25% off - and got it at that price! What amazed me is that Walmart bargained with me. I do love the craft cabinet, too, because the working surface height is perfect for cutting on!

PurpleBecca 09-21-2010 09:55 AM

Must be the type of fabric you purchase. I have never had Walmart fabric melt for me.

I agree! Never had a problem ironing any/all fabric from Walmart yet! And I've bought many yards!

bjnicholson 09-21-2010 12:29 PM

Wow! Are you ever lucky!

sew wishful 09-21-2010 12:44 PM

My husband would have bought the cheapest scissors he could find, IF I had sent him for some. NEVER would have thought of material. Now, mind you, he never has a problem with me picking out material, nor buying what I "need" for sewing! (I work and spend my own money...not his!) But he'd never think of just picking something nice up for me. Even birthday and Christmas..he might ask would I like this or that, but not spontaneously pick something up. The first year we were together he bought me an Army sargeant's jacket for Christmas from Goodwill!!! Now you see?? LOL!

quilter1 09-21-2010 12:59 PM

What a great guy! You really are blessed.
