We keep talking about the baby quilt I'm working on here are 11 of the 15 blocks

bj 09-19-2007 06:08 AM

Those are sweet. How are you going to put them together?

tia sarah 09-19-2007 06:48 AM

lucky baby

live2teach 09-19-2007 07:25 AM

OH! I love fairies! These blocks are beautiful! That is one lucky baby!

ceannastahr 09-19-2007 07:44 AM

I have some light yellow fabric with small pink and blue flowers on it that will be sashing and borders the back will be yellow flannel. As I said they're are 15 fairies the 16th block will have the baby's birth date, weight, lenght, and time of birth. The first block was the daisy one it has her name Lalaith on it

live2teach 09-19-2007 07:55 AM

That is so sweet! How long has it taken you to make these blocks?

Knot Sew 09-19-2007 08:07 AM

countrymaid 09-19-2007 08:42 AM

Great pictures. I think you're getting them out of your garden. Don't you just love this New York fall weather we're having.

ceannastahr 09-19-2007 11:21 AM

Depending on the block between 45 minutes to 2 hours I have the harder ones left to do. When there done I will post them. I try and do 1 a day but somedays that just doesn't happen.

well I don't know how I did it but got 2 done today. Still having problems with puckering in heavy emb areas and the faces just don't quite look right

Celeste 09-19-2007 08:55 PM

Those are sure nice! So pretty and I love the fairies.

I know next to nothing about machine embroidery, so I couldn't begin to suggest anything, but they still look good and the baby and parents will love it!

live2teach 09-20-2007 06:22 AM

That is so sweet of you to take the time to create this beautiful quilt. I think all of your blocks look great! I love each of them. I am like Celeste, I know next to nothing about machine embroidery so sorry I am of no help. Buttercreamcakeartist,(Miranda), machine embroiders all of the time, maybe she has a suggestion that will help.

The friend I am making this for is so excited about finaly having her first grandchild. I wanted this quilt to be something speical I knew DIL loves fairies. She told me no hurry she knows I'm busy what she doesn't know is that I'm stalling waiting for the baby so I can do the speical block.

here is the pic of the backing and sashing

amma 09-20-2007 09:07 AM

Great choice of fabrics, I can't wait to see it completed, she will be speechless when she sees this  Be sure you have a camera handy when she gets her first look at it :D :D :D

By the end of the week? (Don't they usually go ahead and admit them at that stage?) Anyway, that's so exciting. Hope all goes well. :) :)

kathy 09-24-2007 09:04 AM

Ceanna, great job, I always have a time getting all those unnecessary threads cut off. It's too cute.

live2teach 09-24-2007 07:21 PM

amma 09-24-2007 08:49 PM

Ceanna that is soooooo pretty, good job :D :D :D That is one very lucky little girl, I bet this is the blanky that never leaves her side! :D :D :D

susan s. 09-25-2007 05:13 AM

If you remain really bothered by the lack of definition in the faces. You could always use some of the embroidery thread and do a little handwork on the eyes and mouths to give them more deffinition.

jbsstrawberry 09-26-2007 07:28 PM

Spectacular!!! Its breathtaking! Congrats all around!! (the Fairie Tea Party is my favorite too)

cpeloqui 09-27-2007 08:13 PM

Hello,

I have been doing a lot of machine embroidery like yours. The puckering is most likely a stabilizer problem. I use a paper, iron on, tear away stabilizer made by Sulky. It is called "Totally Stable". On top of the iron on I use a crisp tear away stabilizer. Your tension could also be an issue. What type of machine are you using? What size designs are you using? Also what brand thread do you use? I have had very good luck with Madeira Poly Neon.

I have the same design collection that I plan on putting up on my website. I will stitch them out on my Ellegante and post some of the pictures. I have been trying to start a business selling embroidered quilt squares. My thought was to provide the ability to include machine embroidered squares without having to own an embroidery machine.

Let me know how you make out.

Cheryl
