Yesterday I started this sweatshirt jacket and finished it today.

The shirt is navy blue. I left the sleeves along for more easy of comfort.

Very Pretty!!! I love the blues :D:D:D

sewnsewer2 12-29-2009 02:43 PM

Thanks, I just cut the sleeves off and up the sides for the pattern.

I pieced the squares together then did the flip & stitch method with the strips. Then I serged it back together and bound it.

Oh, I bought a 1 size larger sweatshirt and by the time is shrinks, it will fit perfectly!

Harmony 12-29-2009 08:21 PM

I really like that!

sewnsewer2 12-29-2009 08:27 PM

sawsan, Cut a sweatshirt apart and sew your fabric directly onto the sweatshirt. You do not need any batting or linine (unless you want to).

I quilted mine and didn't have any trouble at all and didn't use any extra fabric.

Maybe this will help you.

Thanks, I'll measure it tomorrow. DH is asleep now so I can't get it.

I just measured the squares and they are 3" finished. I just sewed them in strips then layed them on the shirt in strips and flip & stitched them down. Then quilted it when finished.

Would love to see yours when you make one!

jojo47 02-23-2010 11:34 AM

Hmmm...gives me an idea for a dressier, crazy patch jacket using black velvet and black satin scraps left over from making prom dresses not that many years ago...instead of using zippers to close, would use decorative frogs. Also a good way to use up sweatshirts on hand that are in good shape, but that one is tired of....
