b.zang 07-27-2009 06:42 AM

Well, not only did you rise to the challenge, you climbed that mountain and planted a huge flag on the very top!! Beautiful quilt. That black/gray chain really sets off the whole thing.

reneebobby 07-27-2009 06:45 AM

Turned out beautiful, you did a wonderful job and hubby is one heck of a supporter. He knew you could do it!! Good for both of you.

RedGarnet222 07-27-2009 08:04 AM

 Well for goodness sake!!!! That is so beautiful you should enter it into a quilt show. Great job on it, that was one trying setting ... You go girl! It reminds me of day and night for some reason, that is what came to mind when I saw it.

mytwopals 07-27-2009 08:13 AM

Great job! The black and gray really make the borders pop out. I love it!

MoMoSews 07-27-2009 09:08 AM

WOWSER!!!!

That's a keeper for sure!
It is amazing and the contrast between the black and gray
and other colors is just stunning!

littlehud 07-27-2009 06:47 PM

That is wonderful. You did an awesome job. I can't even begin to imagine working with all those little squares.

Butterflyspain 07-30-2009 05:49 AM

Love it

KittyGram 07-30-2009 05:51 AM

Wow, Wow, and Wow!!! It's gorgeous! Yeah, I say make him take you out to dinner, too. A Very nice dinner!!!!

dunster 07-30-2009 06:47 AM

Janstar, that is a beautiful quilt. I really enjoyed meeting you and your husband at Sisters. I also have that book but haven't started making anything from it yet. I saw Susan Dissmore at Puyallup Sewing and Stitchery Expo in 2007, and I was blown away by her beautiful quilts, most of them from that book. It just seems like making a sampler takes so much longer, but obviously it is worth it.

k3n 07-30-2009 07:16 AM

Wowzers Jan that is a stunner! I love the black and grey - gives a real smoky effect to the whole thing - hubby owes you BIG TIME!!! :D

#1piecemaker 07-30-2009 07:50 AM

Wow de Wow! What a great job you did. I absolutely love it. I can't beleive you had the patience to do all those tiny blocks.

Jannie 07-30-2009 07:59 AM

What a beautiful fantastic quilt. Good job.

Sugarpumpkin 07-30-2009 08:29 AM

This is soooo beautiful!

jdavis 07-30-2009 10:08 AM

Wow!
Where was this when someone was asking for "manly colors?" The black and grey chains offset the other colors in a wonderful, masculine way!
Mind you, it is equally feminine!
Beautiful job! I've never seen an arrangement quite like this!

stormatsea45 07-30-2009 12:33 PM

It's a beauty. You are right, he better take VERY good care of it!!! :)

loulou1972 07-30-2009 12:35 PM

kd124 08-01-2009 07:10 PM

Stunning quilt. I love the colors you chose for the chain; it really pops. I also love that the chain extends into the border. It is an amazing quilt...

gcathie 08-01-2009 11:48 PM

what a stunning quilt.....thanks for sharing....:-)

barnbum 08-02-2009 01:39 AM

I'm glad this popped up again.. I love this baby!! :D

How many different blocks are in it? Are some the same pattern, but different colors?

What's the one with purple in the close-up called? It looks like a sun. :D

Mousie 08-02-2009 04:26 PM

Love that diagonal design, Janstar! Your hubby got himself, one sharp looking quilt there! :D

Janstar 08-02-2009 04:43 PM

Hi Karla,
There are 12 different blocks. That setting called for 18 blocks so 6 are doubles and yes in different colors. That block is called the Christmas Star. It was assembled much different than I've ever done before. Everything is a 9 1/2" block. Someone, the book author, of course, really worked on this pattern. If you follow her every direction it turns out just fine. Thanks for your interest.

SuzyM 08-02-2009 04:57 PM

That is really cool looking, I love the pattern and the colors. I think I would have been a bit batty after finishing that one.

Beth-Anne Bousquet 08-04-2009 06:31 PM

waquilter 08-23-2009 11:25 AM

That is very pretty. I love hope the "x"'s pop out. Well worth the effort.
