I call mine Black Widow. I pieced this quilt last winter and finally got around to attaching the borders this morning. Can't wait to get it loaded on the the Long Arm Frame. What color thread would you use? I thought of keeping with the scrappy theme and use the colorful varigated thread that I had left over from a customers quilt but I'm wondering if I should use Black or Grey thread instead. The backing is solid black. What do you think?

I also vote for the varigated. I would be sew tempted to quilt it with spider webs. How cool would that look on the back with spider webs repeating all over it in varigated thread? It would be awesome!

Spider webs is exactly what I'm going to do with some kind of motif in the star. Haven't found the right thing for that yet.

I just sketched out a double sided feather radiating out. so 4 straight spines going out each arm of the star with feather plumes on both sides of the spine. It looked good in the sketch.

Edited to add, when I looked at it again it reminded me of real spiderwebs being anchored on a fern sprig or flower.
