A border idea and Shirley's vest.

Kathy's quilt had a 15" border top and bottom and a 5" on the sides. I drew a 5" border on the top and bottom border just to place the stem. I made the one side of the feather as irregular as I could and filled the rest of the border in with scallops. My friend called them dragon scales because the quilt had fussy cut dragon blocks.

My son's best friend, Shirley, is having a birthday in a couple of weeks. The vest is for her. It is hot off the sewing machine. The silver thread on the black denim look fabric looks spectacular in person. I love that the vest looks appropriate to wear anywhere not just to a quilt meeting.

Love your quilted vest. Has anyone used an vest that is already made and tried to do quilt as you go on it?? I was thinking of trying that.
