I totally agree with QM!

It's very pretty but I think a border would look great on it.

debbieoh 09-17-2012 06:03 PM

beautiful what about a red border

CAS49OR 09-17-2012 06:11 PM

I would add a brown border, bring out the eagle.

nls 09-17-2012 06:54 PM

I think a border would be nice!

GeeGee 09-17-2012 07:26 PM

Very nice, I vote for a blue border.

lay a piece of the fabric you would use for border dowm beside the top, the width you would like to use. Stand back take a picture , look at it and see how you feel.also make the picture black and white then look at it. Does it flow smoothly or does it look like you wanted to make the quilt bigger?I have tried this many times and it really helps.I also do this when I pick fabric for a quilt top.Beleive me a fabric that doesn't belong will let you know, or a quilt that doesn't need a border will say so.

Border - Narrow red, wider white and bind in the blue.

That's exactly what borders I was thinking would be good too.

That is a beautiful quilt. Looking at your quilt with the eagle picture in the middle, I would put a narrow binding, not a border, of brown to enhance the brown in the eagle. It could also be a darker blue.
I think a red border would compete with the red blocks and your eyes would go to the red blocks with the red border. As use-to-be painter, sometimes quilts are like pictures to me and need a "picture frame" to finish them (not compete with blocks in the over all quilt). The darker frame would make the picture stand out, especially since yours has a picture center. imho

It needs a framing border to me and then maybe a regular border. This will make the actual design pop and I think make it a WOW quilt...just my opinion.

Shirlrh 09-18-2012 08:31 PM

Very nice! I don't think it really needs a border. Up to you though. It's a gorgeous quilt.

Not sure what the backing fabric looks like but if it has a combination of red, white & blue,I'd say yes !

Bluelady 09-29-2012 09:55 PM

I would add a small red inner border then a larger patriotic fabric border, with red binding.

It is so pretty. It deserves a border - any color would look nice.

jackied 09-30-2012 11:00 PM

I vote for a narrow than little bit wider border. I really like the quilt.

SueDor 10-01-2012 03:43 AM

I like borders, it frames the design and finishes the quilt.

I would put a small red border and bind it in the red also just to set it off.

Jammin' Jane 12-12-2012 12:00 PM

I like the idea of borders on it. Please show us again what you decide on! :)

javin22 12-12-2012 12:44 PM

I would like to see a border.

QuiltingByCourtney 12-12-2012 12:48 PM

A red border would look amazing! :D

Judyth 12-12-2012 01:28 PM

It's wonderful. I think a border would set it off. This would be a wonderful Quilt of Valor quilt too.
