tough question...I do like quilts with borders, makes the quilts pop.

KathyAire 10-13-2010 02:23 PM

I like a border on a quilt. To me, it makes it more complete. Hurricane Hannah is precious.

sueisallaboutquilts 10-13-2010 02:23 PM

I love that quilt!!!
I don't think it needs a border. It's splendid on it's own! :D
Hannah is too cute!! :D

yes I do too. I LOVE, LOVE a border on my quilts. Just feels more complete to me. That's my thinking anyway... LOL :)

Jim's Gem 10-13-2010 02:35 PM

I like borders most of the time as well.

SueDor 10-13-2010 02:35 PM

My opinion is, is the quilt big enough as it is? I like borders myself, but there is no quilt police so you can do whatever you want.

wolfkitty 10-13-2010 02:39 PM

I usually like borders, too, but this one would look fine without one!

littlehud 10-13-2010 02:58 PM

I like borders on my quilts. They seem to frame them. It's up to you though. Your DGD is darling.

Grammy o'5 10-13-2010 03:01 PM

 It is very pretty, colorful ... just like Hurricane Hannah - pretty & colorful and "full of it"!
I do think it needs a border, just to frame it and finish it off.

ccb2200 10-13-2010 03:04 PM

Your Granddaughter is precious. I would put a border on. Any of the colors would be good.

quilter2 10-13-2010 03:15 PM

I would add the border and your GD is adorable.

marilynr 10-13-2010 03:19 PM

Sweetheart of a granddaughter.
I love borders, so what would please me would be a small light green to
match & then wider in pink. Just my opinion.

kristen0112 10-13-2010 03:20 PM

That's a tough one. Its pretty and colorful your DGD will love it. If you could find a cute print with some of those colors already in the quilt maybe.

Kitsapquilter 10-13-2010 03:22 PM

It is a pretty quilt but I vote for a border!! And that grandaughter is a cute one with her kitty face!!!

mmonohon 10-13-2010 03:23 PM

I think it looks really modern without a border.

fidgety 10-13-2010 03:34 PM

Lol Thanks ladies . The majority says border so border it will be.. Hurricane Hannah is precious but she sure lives up to her nickname... lol.. thanks all..

pjustice63 10-13-2010 03:39 PM

I cast my vote for the border. It frames it.

oatw13 10-13-2010 03:42 PM

I don't think this quilt needs a border. If you do add one, be careful that it doesn't contrast so much as to draw your eye away from the quilt itself.

Too often your eye gets drawn to the border and you miss out on the quilt.

Great colors in this one!

cathyvv 10-13-2010 03:49 PM

Definitely use a border. It's like putting a picture in a frame - makes it easier to appreciate the picture, which, in this case, is a delightful quilt!

beachlady 10-13-2010 03:51 PM

I think a border will just add to the quilt's beauty. Glad you decided to do a border. I love the fabric and colors you used.

bjnicholson 10-13-2010 03:53 PM

I think a small border would be nice. Your GD is a cutie!

mollymct 10-13-2010 03:53 PM

I think your quilt is ideal to go borderless! While some quilts call for a border, some look great without and I think this is one of them!

ann clare 10-13-2010 03:58 PM

Beautiful. I like borders.

koko 10-13-2010 04:10 PM

I think the quilt could go with or without a border. I might add a very little one inch border to frame the quilt from one of the colors in the quilt and then a larger border from one of the other colors in the quilt.

I agree with Kristen! If you could pull those colors together in a border fabric, it would be perfect, just like that little blonde bombshell!!!
Whatever you decide, I love the quilt! :D

Chele 10-13-2010 04:18 PM

Such a cute quilt for an even cuter girl. Border or no border, she's going to love it. Lots of memories will be made with that quilt.

np3 10-13-2010 04:28 PM

I think borders really finish a quilt off nicely.

SaraSewing 10-13-2010 04:31 PM

I think that a boarder usually tells the eye to stop. I vote one color border to make it look finished.

Jingle 10-13-2010 05:08 PM

I think all quilts need at least one border, to frame the center, like a picture frame. Maybe a dark fabric.

Ann L 10-13-2010 05:12 PM

I would leave it as is, as long as it is large enough. Don't want anything to distract from the main quilt. She is going to love t.

CarolinaGirl 10-13-2010 05:41 PM

I would add 2 borders - a 2 inch inner border and a playful print outer border of 4 to 6 inches. It will pull all your colors together. Also, rick rack is very big now and I think your beautiful granddaughter might like a little rick rack on her quilt too.

SuziC 10-14-2010 02:48 AM

I love those colors. I prefer borders on quilts but you are the designer so whatever you decide is the right choice.

CompulsiveQuilter 10-14-2010 04:31 AM

I'm a picture framer and it's the same concept as putting a mat around a picture. I think, especially with a bright and somewhat-busy quilt, that a border gives the eye a place to rest before coming into the POP of the center.

Iluv2quilt 10-14-2010 06:40 AM

She's such a cutie! Yes I would put a border on it, perhaps pick up the green in the quilt.

JJean 10-14-2010 07:09 AM

Darling quilt! I love the colors. I'd go the extra mile and add a border.

Dani 10-14-2010 08:50 AM

I think just the binding is needed. It would help frame it too. Dani

deema 10-14-2010 09:02 AM

I would do a thin black border, then bind it with strips from all of the colours used in the quilt.

Mariposa 10-14-2010 09:02 AM

I vote for adding a border. Hannah is very cute! :)
