I'm working on wall hangings for my sisters in law and me and I'm almost to the last borders. I got this great border stripe to use but I don't think I like it. I think I should go look for something else. I think it's too busy and fights with the seashell print.

What do you all think?

amma 05-19-2010 07:12 AM

Stand back and look at it. I thought it was a little busy in the first two pictures, but I like it in the last one :D:D:D

magnolia 05-19-2010 07:13 AM

I also like the last one best.

Irishlady 05-19-2010 07:20 AM

Ditto, the last one looked the best.

Janetlmt 05-19-2010 07:23 AM

I like the last one also..

Pam 05-19-2010 07:23 AM

Pull that last one out a little farther to get the plain section in there also and that will be nice.

sewjoyce 05-19-2010 07:24 AM

I like the last one too!! :D

cinnya 05-19-2010 07:26 AM

I guess I am the exception, I love the first one :-D

kathy 05-19-2010 07:45 AM

I like the last one if you turn it so the teal is on the outside

Marjpf 05-19-2010 07:46 AM

What if you flip the blue/green around so that the plain area is closest to the center?

Last one! The proportions look right.

thismomquilts 05-19-2010 07:57 AM

second or third

Me three.

cjomomma 05-19-2010 08:05 AM

If I had to pick I would sat the last one. Otherwise I would look for something else cause I can see the difference in the shade of blues on the main section and the border and it makes it look off.

sewcrafty 05-19-2010 08:06 AM

What if you flipped the solid and pattern green so the solid is next to the beige in the 3rd one?

sewnsewer2 05-19-2010 08:09 AM

I like it and it frames your work beautifully!

I found a whole different option. I think I may really like this one. The design on the fabric is actually ocean waves and I think that ties it to the shell fabric and it doesn't seem to fight with the green or blue.

skavanau 05-19-2010 09:12 AM

When you stand back an look at it it looks great. But I also think just the (2) plain borders look good to..The dark orange and dark blue..

T-Bones mom 05-19-2010 09:22 AM

Last one!

kwiltkrazy 05-19-2010 09:33 AM

I really like the first one. But, you could put the orange on the outside. What were you planning to use as the binding?

kwiltkrazy 05-19-2010 09:35 AM

Can you show more of the quilt?

RatherB Quilting 05-19-2010 09:46 AM

I like the last one. I don't think it competes because the pattern is kinda "shell like" :) I think it sets it off nicely.

cjomomma 05-19-2010 09:57 AM

Honestly I'm not sure about the last pic. I think I like the blue, green better than this last one.

MamaBear61 05-19-2010 10:09 AM

I like the last option best.

Halo 05-19-2010 10:14 AM

I love the 3rd one. The last one just doesn't do it for me. But that is just me I guess.

As soon as the camera battery recharges!

JenniePennie would love to see that border print for her "Challenging Card Tricks" tutorial. She wanted to see some fabrics. It's really beautiful but I'm not sure its right for the quilt.

Here are the two main options. I laid the whole wall hanging out on the floor so you can see the whole thing with the border options.

Kitsie 05-19-2010 11:25 AM

Ah-h-h now you have it! Love the stones to go with the shells! But can also see the solid Aqua with it.

Quilt4u 05-19-2010 11:27 AM

Last one.

The aqua isn't a solid, it's just far enough away in the picture you can't see the design. I think it may just be too off in color from the center fabrics for me though.

rootyr 05-19-2010 11:52 AM

The last one!

cjomomma 05-19-2010 01:01 PM

Boy this is a tough one. Now that I can see the bigger pic I think the second looks best. But it is your decision.

reach for the stars 2 05-19-2010 01:18 PM

I like the last one also.

MadQuilter 05-19-2010 01:22 PM

I would go for a neutral or tone on tone blue/teal on the last border. The patterns seem to fight with each other. Of all the options though the 3rd one could work.

roseOfsharon 05-19-2010 01:26 PM

The last one would be my choice it blends nicely and adds appeal to the center! Just my thoughts :)
