I'm with you. I don't have too much problem with quilting, but when it comes to something like this I just don't get it. I have read and re-read the instructions and still don't get it. I'm more of a visual person. I'm confused on this one right out of the gate. I already got my fabric about a month ago and it's still sitting there waiting for me. :|

I just bought the pattern and am wondering if I can understand it. I am trying to find the fabric I like and then will start it. Yours are beautiful!

Dogwood Quilter 05-01-2010 06:49 PM

Ladies I have found with these patterns to take it step by step. The Bow Tuck wasn't to hard to follow but the billfold was more so. I had better luck quilting in straight lines at a 45 degree angle than fmq. Just have fun.

I love making purses and just got my pattern for this yesterday. The Tote size that finishes at 13wx11hx5d. What are the dimensions of your smaller one? Also what is the name of the wallet pattern? I made 3 Wonder Wallets today form Lazy Girl Designs.

I made the second one 12x10x4. If you noticed, I turned the top inside an inch. I think this makes the handles stronger and the top of the bag neater. The wallet is "My Favorite Accessory Fabric Wallet/Purse" by Sewing Basket. I bought this from Lazy Girl Designs booth at the sewing expo last month.

These are beautiful! Thank you for posting such great pictures of the interior - love the pockets! Think these are going on my 'to do' list :-)

Katsie 05-02-2010 07:07 AM

I'm following the craze also! I bought the pattern from Connecting Threads a couple days ago and can't wait to start this. What fun!

gwena 05-02-2010 11:28 AM

Ooh...I love the daisy fabric with polka dots, where ever did you find this? Love the purses and the billfold pattern too. Please do share where we can find these on the web. Gwena

LINANN 05-03-2010 01:13 PM

love them. How do you scale down a pattern?

Up North 05-03-2010 01:24 PM

This one would be simple to scale down as the pieces are just rectangles, Just cut them a little smaller. This is what I will do when I get more fusible fleece as even the mini is bigger than I like.

LINANN 05-03-2010 01:27 PM

thank you very much.....I bought the pattern at the quilt show in Lancaster last month....want to start it....but have so many projects.

zz-pd 05-03-2010 09:10 PM

Love your bags!! I finally broke down and bought the pattern, but haven't attempted to make one yet. Soon as I get a day off, I'll try it. I love looking at all the ones everyone else has made. It has truly inspired me. :D

Dogwood Quilter 05-04-2010 05:08 AM

Junie 05-07-2010 08:56 AM

does the bow tuck purse pattern come with directions to make a zipper top? I am so afraid of loosing things out of my purse such as wallet and car keys and small objects.

Up North 05-07-2010 09:07 AM

No it does not. I guess you could put one in if you wanted or velcro at the top.

Rainbow 05-14-2010 07:44 AM
