I made 2 Bow Tuck purses last week. The first one is by the pattern. the second one I scaled down some. I made a billfold for the second one by a pattern I got at Ghee's booth at the Springfield Round Robin Sewing Expo last month.

I have never tried to make anything like that... I especially love the navy and white with daisies! You inspire me.

quiltingfan 04-29-2010 04:35 PM

I have a pattern but no material to make one. I am dying to make it. It looks hard is it?

Dogwood Quilter 04-29-2010 04:36 PM

no this is not a hard pattern. try it you will love it.

geckogirl 04-29-2010 05:00 PM

Are you making these for anyone in particular or are you just making them to sell?

candi 04-29-2010 05:02 PM

Lovely. I especially love the second one.

Elly 04-29-2010 05:04 PM

I really need to get on the "bag wagon." They are soo cute!

Up North 04-29-2010 05:10 PM

I am in the process of making one, I am not crazy about the way the inside pockets are tho so may alter my pattern some.

erstan947 04-29-2010 05:24 PM

I couldn't stand it ....I ordered a pattern 2 days ago. Can't wait til it gets here. Love you fabric choices.

Dogwood Quilter 04-29-2010 05:33 PM

These are for me. I like the size of the 2nd one. That was some fabric WM got in. It is actually a black background.

amy WI 04-29-2010 05:36 PM

love them all

kso 04-29-2010 06:46 PM

I really like the light colored lining. Makes it so easy to see what is down in there.

lazyquilter 04-29-2010 07:18 PM

Love your finished projects. I love the bow tuck. I want to badly to make a nice bsg. But for some reason I kinda need someone to walk me through some of the beginnings as it doesn't take much for me getting lost and discouraged. So I will put something away until I either feel more rested orai have someone to help me through parts. But your bags and money holders are just stunning.

amma 04-29-2010 10:18 PM

Oooooo such pretty fabric!!! I love all 3 of them :D:D:D

topper1 04-29-2010 10:24 PM

very nice , need to do on my to do list

RedGarnet222 04-29-2010 10:26 PM

Oh man I am in love with the first one! They are both wonderfully made, but, the coloration on the first is the cat's meow. That's it! I am making one tomorrow. I have waited long enough. See what you started? LOL!

SulaBug 04-29-2010 11:04 PM

OMG!! These Bow Tuck bags are wonderful. Such bright & beautiful fabric's you have used making them. I love all three pieces you have made. The wallet is great & looks so nice made to match your purse. Thanks for sharing.

dglvr 04-30-2010 05:02 AM

Very cute. I love your fabrics. Sooooo cute.

kkbrand 04-30-2010 05:56 AM

Question, how are down did you place your magnetic snap? I am thinking about putting one in and was not sure how far to put it down

Dogwood Quilter 04-30-2010 06:46 AM

I usually eyeball the closing for the snap. They are usually 1" to 1 1/2" from the top. I back the snaps with an extra pc of fabric or stabilizer.

GrammaNancy 04-30-2010 06:48 AM

I have the pattern, I think I will try one soon. Yours is beautiful.

Dogwood Quilter 04-30-2010 06:48 AM

The daisy fabric came from my LQS. It is a Donna Dewberry fabric.

Dogwood Quilter 04-30-2010 06:49 AM

Be sure and post pictures of your Bow Tuck purses.

I still have to cover my bottom inside piece but was excited to show off what I did. Still need to snip threads and I used disappearing ink that is not gone yet.

TIP READ the directions closely! It isn't hard to make but it would have saved me from ripping a couple times!!

I was almost out of fabric so my handle is narrower, I only put pockets on the back of the inside, goofed and put my buttonhole loop on the front. I want to add something to the pocket, a butterfly pin maybe.

kkbrand 04-30-2010 07:39 AM

I have been putting pockets on only one side of my bag too just because it is so nicer to have room in the bag portion itself

sewNso 04-30-2010 07:53 AM

these are so adorable. Bow tuck? i would love to make one. i'll look 4 the pattern. i've bought several purse patterns, and then never made them.

wvdek 04-30-2010 08:09 AM

I love, love, love your bags. Sweet!

RedGarnet222 04-30-2010 08:12 AM

Oh that is pretty up north!

littlehud 04-30-2010 08:13 AM

All of them are so cute. I love the flowery one. Your billfolds are great too. Great job on all. Thanks for sharing.

I like your idea of the outside pocket as the back with the button on the other side. I plan to make mine that way and add a tassle to the button to give it some glam.

greencat 04-30-2010 01:38 PM

All these bow tucks look great! I borrowed the pattern from my Mom, now I just have to some fabric for mine.

Happy Tails 05-01-2010 02:41 AM

The daisy is call "Daisy Cluster" #DD22. I seen Donna using the same fabric last night on Create TV. There are other colors in this design. I am sorry the polka dot came through as navy but is actually black. It is from WalMart. It is regular stock, $4.44 yd. The white polka dot is the same fabric. It is a little heavier weight. The white has been on clearance here. The polka dots are Cranston Print Works. www.cranstonvillage.com. I hope this helps.

Dogwood Quilter 05-01-2010 05:56 AM

Ladies, the pattern calls for pellon fleece 987f. I used hvy wt pellon fleece for the outer bag and the 987f for the lining and pockets. It gives the bag a little more body. Also use the 987f in the handles. I also bought some foam board at Hobby Lobby and cut that for my bottom. I have used acrylic cut to size for purse bottoms but the foam seems to work just fine. Just be sure it is the heavier foam bd. Everyone have fun making those bags.

Bevanger 05-01-2010 06:58 AM
