I did quilt the one pictured but the thread blends in so well that it's hard to see. I WILL continue to quilt the outside main fabric because I like the look better and think that it makes the whole purse more stable and also hand made. Tonight another lady saw this one and immediately wanted one. She said that she'd pay me for it. So I nonchalantly asked her what she expected to pay and she said, "Oh, I don't know, its $15 enough?" (Hummmm... think I'll wait on making THAT one. $15 barely pays for the fabric and fleece.) |
I absolutely LOVE your choice of fabric. Can't wait to see purse #2.

It came out beautifully! I love the colors. Don't forget to post how you make the next one so that we can see how your new ideas work. More pics, too, please :-D !!

Good job. I love your fabric colors. Thanks for the tips. I bought the bow tuck pattern but haven't tried it yet. After seeing 1 made up I wish I had gotten the mini bow tuck instead as the bt may be too big for me. Will see after I get it done. Seems like no one can stop with just 1 of these bags so maybe my Christmas gift list will get taken care of when I start on mine.

Very pretty...love the colors. I agree about the iron on fleece. It is very bulky to work with. I broke a couple of needles making mine trying to get through all the layers. They do look nice though when they are done. Another fun one to do is the Desk Deli Tote by Penny Sturges. I just finished one and it came out nice and was, I think, easier to do.

I agree with this hint and plan to use it next time I make one. I also think I may make my next on a little "taller". I think your color choices were great too! |
I like and I agree with iron on , I dont think u need it in purse or handles, I just use batting. Colors are pretty. Just position pocket closer to bottom of top part that's all and I sew bottom where you turn it after its turned of course lol.

I think it's beautiful. Thanks for the tips, I'll be starting mine as soon as I finish re-doing my sewing room. LOVE LOVE LOVE your avatar!!!

Love your colors, my favorite color. I too am going to make a mini in the near future.
Too cute! Thanks for the tips, I haven't tried on yet, trying to get the courage up!
After I made my first one I used the cut off material and made a little case for my credit cards to match the purse. I believe the next one I make I am going to use velcro to close the top instead of using the button . I think it will be safer that way.
Another suggestion - wrap your credit cards in tin foil so they cannot be scanned by scammers, so I put tin foil on both sides of by pocket. |
I like that the outside pocket IS so high...everything always goes to the bottom of a pocketbook anyway and it seems whenever I put things in the outside pocket, the inside stuff just makes the things in that pocket work its way out...great job!!!   Naomi

I love the fabrics..... Beautiful!

I used heavey weight fusable interfacing. for all the fleece. It seems to be standing up well. I have made 14 mini bow tucks this way.The inner pocket is too long even if it is cut in half. I do mine the width of the purse. Also I use to pieces of plastic canvas for the bottom inside. I cover it with a pillowcase type cover.Tucking in the extra. The canvas is cheap and I get 2 purses done from one piece of canvas.(50cents)They are addictive but fun.Mary

Another idea I used for one of the pockets. I put my cell phone in one pocket and stitched across so the phone stuck out a little, that way it don't sink all the way down to the bottom.
just got the pattern haven't made one up yet so glad I read your post about the layering, love the color you used made the bag really pop

very pretty love the colors

So pretty. I've not used the iron-on fleece so thank you for that heads-up.
Forgot to say that I used a magnetic closure instead of a button (I'm sure you saw that in the photo) and I used plastic canvas for the bottom and made a sleeve like a pillowcase for the plastic canvas to fit into.
Very pretty. Aren't they addicting?
Beautiful result!
Love that material....my favorite colors! Great job!

No you can do what you want as long as you like it , its for you and you make what you like. what I do if it is for me.
i too thought the fleece on both outside and inside was too much so i use fleece on the outside and the same pellon that i use for the pockets to do the lining i also made my straps a little longer and a bit narrower dont care for such a wide strap on my purses. i think the reason they want you to use wof for the inside pockets is so you dont end up short when you do your sectioning some will do less others will do more if you do more it would make it short and not catch in your side seams but yes wof fab is a bit much. i do love your fabrics you used nice colors 2 of my favs
Very pretty I love the color you picked
Thanks for the pics. I haven't made one yet but plan to some day.
Excuse an english fabriholic quilter, bag maker. Wher do i find a mini bow tie bag pattern the same as yours please.?
I also love the fabrics you chose to make it with. It turned out lovely and so nicely sewn!
hahahahahaha... Im sorry...I cant stop laughing... not at your tote, that is really pretty... I love your avatar... hahahaha... thanks, I needed that.
that's awesome colors. :) Great job on it. I made a regular bow tuck, but not the mini, so I think I'll have to get on that.
I purchased at Dollar General a heavy duty shower curtain and used that as my pockets inside my mini bow tuck. Did use fabric on the top of pocket to give it a nice finish. Easy to see what is in the pockets.
The bag is lovely, and I love the fabric.
love that turquoise!!!!!!!!!!!
Very nice job and love the fabric. joann11

Very nice. That is thing about sewing, you make something and then think of better ways to do it(for your taste anyway).
