Bowl Cozy
1 Attachment(s)
I sewed my first one today and it turned out nice using the QB microwave bowl tutorial. I will do the second tomorrow. It is floral on one side and stars on the other. Here is a picture

Oooh, I like the browns with the cream.
|
Looks great! I find them faster to do if I "factory piece" them - do multiples, doing the same step to all of the pieces, then the next step etc. I also did sets that matched using 10, 12, 14 inch squares, as hostess gifts.
|
Looks great! now all you need is a pot of home made soup.
|
vey nice!!!
|
This is sew pretty! I made a few for my grandson when he went off to college. A lot of meals go in the microwave there! lol!
|
Very nice and like your fabric!

It turned out so pretty.

Looks great!

Very pretty! Nicely done.

Very nice...

Question: when/if given as gifts do you attach a note stating the time in micro?
|
I am giving 2 to my son for when he microwaves his oatmeal in the morning BUT for after taking the bowl out of the microwave. I observed him balancing another bowl under his oatmeal so he could hold and eat it. I used batting I had on hand and have no idea of the content so I would not chance them in the microwave.
|
nicely done
|
why not....you hold it by the edges. I wouldn't think it would matter about the batting...I could be wrong tho
|
Very pretty fabric.
|
Elegant! My husband calls them "comforters".

I'm inspired to do some of these, too. Great gifts - especially for the non-sewers that I know. And, unlike placemats, these would not likely be available to purchase on their own. Yours is beautiful.

After Christmas for a fun, quick project I made a set of these bowls for the microwave. I love using them. Love you fabric.
If you are going to use them under the bowl in the microwave you need to use all cotton products. Cotton fabric, cotton batting (thick or two layers) and cotton thread. Polyester products can possibly melt in the microwave. |
I love making these and love the fabrics you chose. They are small projects that give me a boost when I'm stuck on what to start, er, I mean finish next.
|
I keep telling myself I need to make some for myself as I heat up soup in the microwave a lot during the winter time. Love your fabric you used. Thanks for the inspiration.

For some reason I don't like the idea of putting fabric in the microwave. Freaks me out. However, I have made them and use them to put the bowl in after the item is microwaved. Makes more sense to me. But, that's just me.

Great looking bowl.

I need to make one of these for my son. At 13 he can microwave for himself, but still wants mom to get his food out of the microwave! We have pitched all the plastic and only use glass so they do get hot. I purchased Wrap-NZap by Pellon at Walmart for the batting which is 100% cotton.

Love your fabric choice. Lovely<object type="cosymantecnisbfw" cotype="cs" id="SILOBFWOBJECTID" style="width: 0px; height: 0px; display: block;"></object>

I have made the rice tubes to heat and put on my neck -- all cotton. I also have one made from fleece that I uses as the pattern and it has worked fine, but I only cook them for a couple of minutes. For Christmas I got a microwave popcorn popper and it does get hot on the bottom so I would like to make on of these to go on the bottom.

I made lots of these at Christmas. Love your fabric!
|
It's lovely, Tartan. Is this for yourself or as a gift?

Love your cozy. I made many for family and friends. Wouldn’t have given them away until I tried them in the microwave myself. I Ordered 10 yards of wrapnzap on line. Then being I knit and crochet I decided to crochet one with 100% cotton yarn. Haven’t made a fabric one since. they work up quickly and give me something to do at night or during Packer football games. Go Pack! These can be folded and tucked in a drawer. I’ve tried several ways to launder them and all worked. Took them out of washer and dried over inverted bowl, or stretched them back into shape and pinned from 2 corners on a hanger and unintentionally dried with towels. Thought I ruined it but alas I I just pulled it back into shape and it was good as new. Found the pattern on Pinterest.
