Beautiful! Great job!
Did you hand quilt it?

Izy 04-21-2008 03:38 AM

No Tirnhi, this was my first attempt at free motion on all the background areas and border - can't you tell!! - I cheated doing the echo quilting and used my open-toed foot lol!!

I chose the same colour thread to quilt and the backing fabric has a mosaic type pattern outlined with gold, the picture really doesn't do the fabrics any justice, they are VERY vibrant!!

Knot Sew 04-21-2008 03:41 AM

Very pretty....good job........sure your mother will love it :D

Well, I don't care how you did it...it looks great!
I was just wondering on the quilting aspect.

Izy 04-21-2008 03:45 AM

Thanks Tirnhi, I am pleased with it and I AM my own worst critic lol!!

Aren't we all!
I'm debating on taking apart the heart quilt I made. I was looking at it...closely...and found some LARGE stitches in it that I really don't like. I didn't notice it before. Plus, I found some seams that really didn't match. Don't know how I missed that. But, it's on the last border, so that could be the reason. Thinking of taking that entire border off and putting on a red border that is one of the fabrics of the red in the heart.
I dunno. The more I look at the quilt, the more unhappy I am with it.
I now have until mid June to get it done, so I do have the time. They moved the date of the auction because the place they are having it at cancelled the date on them. Something about they need some maintenance done and this is the only time they can have it done. Good thing flyers weren't sent out yet, huh?

Izy 04-21-2008 04:21 AM

Oh Terry, I am so sure that it is just yourself being over critical it looked fabulous to me, and as EVERYBODY tells you, once its quilted those minor glitches just disappear within the total effect!!

BUT saying that.....I know what I would be like, and if you really aren't happy with it.....then get froggin girl!! The sooner you make a decision the better, then you can move forward with it!! :D

I know...I just don't know what I'm going to do.
Still in that sewing funk. Went in my room today and did some paper piecing squares. Trying to figure out what I'm going to do for the center square for this Round Robin. Nothing is striking my fancy and I need to get my butt in gear and get one done!

Izy 04-21-2008 04:33 AM

I DO know where you are coming from, if you ain't in the right frame of mind....as us northern u.k. girls say.....nowt happens!!

Maybe have a change, go watch a movie or something completely different, then come back to it and see it afresh.
You will get your inspiration soon I am sure!! :D

Wooooweeeeeee....... what a work of art!!!!! Here is a 'home' remedy for you.... remember the action photo of you drinking that icy cold wine spritzer while gazing at the flamenco dancers? Well, go wrap your achy fingers around a spritzer and they will feel better soon :):):)

lin 04-22-2008 03:37 AM

Oh WOW! That just takes my breath away. You must have put in hours and hours on this little beauty! It was a treat to my eyes. Very, VERY nice job Izy! Love it. :)

hannahsmom 04-22-2008 03:27 PM

wow.. this looks really great!! I love all the detailed work!!

robbijmorris 04-22-2008 03:31 PM

Izy,

What detail! I love it, it is beautiful. You should be proud.

I know what you mean about our own worst critic. My sister wants me to enter my black and white one in a contest, and I won't do it. I know the miters in the corners aren't right, and I know where I messed up on my stippling. I still may try to do one for a contest, just not that one.

k9colliedog 04-23-2008 05:47 AM

Oh Izy what a beautiful piece of work!!. I am sure your Mum will love it. Every stitch a loving thought. Sylvia

Izy 04-23-2008 07:50 AM

Thanks everyone for your lovely comments, my DH has just made a dowelling frame for handing it...I haven't made a typical hanging sleeve, I found on the net a simple way of making triangle pockets on each corner, you can slip doweling into each corner and it keeps it perfectly square!!

I am going to start a new post with some pictures so I can share the technique incase some of the newbies like me find it easier!! :D :D

jamsbuying 04-23-2008 08:40 AM

Absolutely beautiful. Love the 3-D !!!

Judith

fabuchicki 04-23-2008 11:38 AM
