Wow! This is a great quilt! I love what you did and how creative you are! Great job!
What a great idea! It will be fun for the kids to try to find where in the main panel that the little pieces came from that make up the outer 4 patches.
Excellent plan. You have inspired many of us. You've done such a good job, I would like a short tutorial.
That is sooooooo cute.
Great job. It is awesome. You have inspired me to try this someday.
That is SIMPLY AWESOME!! I'm doing a 4 patch posey using a floral fabric, but I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE your idea. Thanks for sharing.
LOVE this! Perfect for little ones...and fun to try to find what part of the animal went into the blocks.

A couple of friends in the guild had recently taken a class on the 4 patch posie and were sharing the process with me at a quilt retreat. I loved their quilts, but really didn't need to go looking for more fabric, just to try the design. What I really needed was to make a floor quilt for our two expected grand sons. As I was leaving the retreat, with quilt store attached, I saw this adorable Zoo Panel and thought, 'Why not just stack 4 panels on top of one another and use that instead of yardage?!' I bought 5 panels so I could use one as the center focus. The hardest part was figuring the size to cut the blocks. I used flannel for front and back and used 2 layers of Quilter's Dream Select. Since my DSM throat is only 6 1/2" I had to use a quilt-as-you-go method. I outline quilted all the animals on the panel first, then measured to determine my border sizes. I ended up cutting my 6 1/2" blocks, down to 6" so that everything would come out even. It should give the kiddos LOTS to look at : )

Just so cute. I used panels once to make a stack n whack. Turned out pretty good, but yours is so interesting. Love figuring out what part of the panels made the blocks.

They will be so busy, they will get worn out and they will fall asleep! Brilliant idea!

Pat yourself on the back 20 times over |
Confused here.....did you use "5" panels for "1" quilt?

Your quilt is simply wonderful! I never thought about using panels for the 4 patch posy. I bought the pattern several years ago, but felt it was poorly written and never tried it. Some ladies in my Guild had the pattern, figured it out and have made several. My sister took the pattern to a retreat and made a lovely one, and now I have the pattern back. Maybe I'll finally make one.
