These are some brip pads I made for my new nephew (still in the Oven) I looked online & man are these things expensive. Custom made ones are at least $25.00 a piece. Hoping the new mom will like. Can't go to shower so sending by sister.

There is a lady around here that makes them and I think she does charge 25.00. She sell them to the "stars" so guess that is why she can charge so much. Think her company is Maisie Mae.

I love yours and so will the Mom!

amma 11-15-2009 01:02 PM

I got the Gerber prefolded diapers from Walmart. They cost about $11.00 for 12. I used cotton prints that I had around the stash & bought the blue stars. Doesn't take alot of fabric. I"ll sent you a copy of the pattern work sheet I got if you like. Maybe I can copy & post on here if I can figure out how to do it. Let me know.

jnebug 11-16-2009 05:52 AM

Iwould love the pattern for them also, having a new one in our family in April.

I have made these burp pads but used fingertip towels. They have designs on them when purchased and are very expensive, about $8 each. Do you buy large towels and cut them down to size, or do you buy toweling? I need to make some for a shower gift. Thanks for sharing.

wvdek 11-16-2009 04:00 PM

Well done.

mountain-moma 11-16-2009 04:43 PM

love them

Quilt4u 11-16-2009 04:50 PM

They are so cute.

Craftylady, these are prefolded birdseye diapers. 12 in package from Walmart. I hoop mine but my instructions said to use the sticky paper. I was out & hooping was not hard. If you have a Sam's Club in your area, they have hand towels for a pretty cheap price. I thought about making them with these cause I couldn't find diapers but I over looked them in store.

OK, I scanned the directions into pictures & maybe it will work. If it doesn't I'll try something else.

quiltingmimipj 11-16-2009 05:37 PM

I take a yard square of flannel and crochet an edging around it for a very nice receiving blanket. Then I take that extra fabric that I cut off to make the yard square and sew it on to the pre-folded diaper for a matching set.

Blessings,

Material MiMi

I went to my post & downloaded the picture & it printed off OK. If anybody can't get it to work send me your address & I'll mail you a copy. Deb

Very useful...and very cute! No babies on the horizon here....will have to stick to making dog quilts!

sewjoyce 11-16-2009 06:54 PM

Those are so cute -- and really useful!

hereca622 11-17-2009 01:05 PM

Your pads are very cute and will be unique. I found burp pads very useful when mine were babies.

LoriJ 11-17-2009 01:21 PM

Thanks Debra for the instructions.!

sharon b 11-17-2009 01:25 PM

Thanks for the instructions  They printed out fine

gramfel 11-17-2009 01:55 PM

I would love a copy of the worksheet. Do you wash the diapers before making the burp pads?

judithb 11-17-2009 02:58 PM

So cute!!

Debra Mc 11-18-2009 07:28 AM

Yes, I did wash, so if they shrunk any.

judithb 11-18-2009 07:53 AM

Thanks for the pattern. Very creative!

Fox 11-19-2009 11:30 PM

Thanks for the pattern. Using a diaper makes more sence to me than a towel...more absorbant for those "generous" babies.

quiltingmimipj 11-20-2009 05:12 AM

Where did you get these directions? Are they out of a book?

sawsan 11-20-2009 05:39 AM

Adorable! and very nice this is machine emb is'nt it

Debra Mc 11-20-2009 07:06 AM

QUiltingmimipj got the directions from sewing club I go to. Was a handout. I have another one from 1st of year. May be the same one. Any problems let me know. The designs are machine embroidery. Got the designs from Designs by SICK. He has a lot of really nice stuff & cheap too. I belong to the club. Lifetime member & was worth every cent.
