Yes, isn't she just adorable?! She sews like a dream I really love the 1/4 " foot- makes life so easy. I've been enjoying my Bernina 220, I sprung her off of layaway the middle of last week, and have been sewing in the evenings. Tonight I will be practicing my FMQ.

Dawn Hendrix 08-12-2010 08:32 AM

I think you have my dream baby. Someday I'll have one. Enjoy ever minute using it.

angelarose 08-12-2010 09:04 AM

What a joy! And you don't have to feed it except a drop or two of oil every 6 mos., and it doesn't call for your attention in the middle of the night!
Lots of sewing pleasure coming your way. I used a Bernina in a class I took. I have a new Janome, but the Bernina felt better.

roseOfsharon 08-12-2010 09:13 AM

Woot! A really nice machine :)

LOL! Yes the perfect 'baby'! And I'm enjoying it immensely. I had taken a couple of classes at the Bernina, Lqs, and we used their Bernina machines for class...after that there was no turning back! I was lucky to find them on sale the day I decided on one, and then again most blessed that they had layaway! Yes, there is nothing else quite like a Bernina. I hope I'm still saying that 5 yrs down the road!
Kind Regards,
MaryAnna

finch 08-12-2010 11:29 AM

You will really love it!! I just bought the Bernina Patchwork addition a while back and the only think that irratates me is where the switch is located. But other than that,It is super.I bought an original walking foot on Ebay for mine, not a repo either, brand new in the box. They do have several feet for them .I only buy the original feet though.

Well I bought several feet from the Bernina store, I get 20% off my purchases as a 20/20 club member. So I've already purchased the Walking foot, 1/4 inch foot, and the darning/qulting foot. There were 4 feet that came with the machine, I think mainly for traditional sewing.
I'm very happy with the machine, and what impressed me most was the feed dogs and how they really 'bite' and pull the fabric- no more pushing 'n pulling the fabric through.

Kind Regards,
MaryAnna

I am new to quilting and have been looking for a different sewing machine. I have a Singer right now and not even sure how long I have it, probably at least 20 years. Will this one do some machine quiting and if you do not mind telling me, how much do they run?

jacee kay 08-12-2010 12:08 PM

Mary Anna, Once you have sewn with a Bernina it is hard to go back to anything else. When I worked for a Bernina dealer in the early 90's I was able to purchase a 1260 for wholesale. It has served me well for 16 years. It has a lot of mileage on it. I also purchased lots of feet for it and have used them all at one time or another. In the last year I also purchased a 220 when they were on sale. To my dismay it didn't have the knee bar or the control pedal that I was accustomed to on my older machine. I ended up putting almost another $250 into it to get those options. It does have more decorative stitches than my older macine. The main reason I purchased it is because it is at least 10lbs lighter in weight than my other machine. I love the both. I just wished the feet from my old machine fit the newer one. That is not possible since the newer machine has the threader. I also own a Bernina serger and a stand alone embroidery machine. I hope you enjoy and use your new machine as much as I do all of mine. Congratulations!

Kitsie 08-12-2010 05:38 PM

Wonderful! Know the feeling - I have my dream machine on lay-a-way. You give me hope that it can be done!

Enjoy, enjoy!

angelarose 08-13-2010 05:00 AM

I'm still so happy reading about your Bernina. Your new arrival! Don't you just love the way it hums along, does what you want it to do...yep, just humming along, doing its job, no arguments, no challenges. It's at your beck and call, just purring along. I think I'm getting carried away. Best get to my housework and shopping with DH (I guess that's Dear Husband???)
