I know I posted pictures of the bug jar quilt when I finished the quilting it, http://www.quiltingboard.com/t-89463-1.htm. But it is now bound with a scrappy binding from the bug fabric leftovers. :) And the label is made and sewn on! :)

Yes! :) But you have to use a pressure canner! A water-bath just won't do...unless you are pickling the bugs! LOL :P

Your quilt is great! My daughter and I bought a bunch of bug fabrics, but we have yet to start our bug jar quilt. Its on the long, and getting longer, TO- DO list!

I love it! What pattern did you use for the quilt? I want to make one with food fabrics and found a pattern that has 3 jars per shelf and things on the bottom that look like drawers, but I want to put a ton of jars on it like you did. The pattern I have is more like a piece of furniture with just a few jars per shelf and not very many shelves.

I love all the colors and different fabrics you chose; this is a great quilt.

wolph33 02-05-2011 07:49 PM

very nice

Hey, I like this. So many bug fabrics. Please tell me you managed to find them all at once. Collecting bug fabric would be too much like my biology class in high school. We had to do a bug collection. Hated killing the real ones!
Great job!

This is the pattern I used for the jars. http://bugjarquilt.blogspot.com/. For the "bookcase" I added a 1.5" strip under the rows of sewn blocks and then a 2.5" strip around the outside.

Wow, how wonderful, my son would have loved this, he loved collecting all those 'bug books' that came out in the 90's.
