Hi All....I am somewhat new to the group. I have been receiving the newsletter for quite a while now and every once in a while, I have posted a comment. I wanted to try and share a couple of pictures with you of the doll quilt that I made last week. The face isn't on, yet. I can't decide how I want to do it. I have already tried embroidering it on and didn't like it, but when I tried to applique it on, it didn't look right, either! If anyone has a suggestion, I would definitely be open to it! Hope everyone is doing well having a good week! Take Care....

I don't know the size of it but you might use pigma pens and draw it on.
I was going to say the same thing. Just draw the little face on. It should turn out very well.

Welcome! Your doll quilt is adorable! :D
I agree, Pigma pens would be the way to go. Try it on scraps of the same fabrics to be sure you get the right "look" to the face, sometimes tone-on-tone fabrics don't take well to pens. By the way the quilt looks great. Is it for someone special?
Sorry, I'm not good with faces, but wanted to say your quilt is precious!!
Love your bunny doll quilt.
Very cute!
How adorable!!! Who's the quilt for??
maybe the pens for the nose and mini buttons for eyes?
I would draw the face I want on paper, then transfer it to the quilt top & use a single thread of embroidery cotton to get a very fine look to match your very lovely work!
Very cute!

I thought about this, but the fabric that I used for the body is fleece and it doesn't take the marking very well. The original instructions were for minkie. I didn't have any minkie and it would have been a week or two before I was able to get any. We live about 90 miles to the nearest place that would have it. Usually, I just order what I need online, but that takes time, too. You know, I doubt if minkie would have made a difference, in this case, either. Thank you all so much for you encouragement and help.

It's adorable!
An other Beautiful quilt. Your on a roll. Keep it up.
Adorable! I like the blank face. You could add some beads if it isn't for a baby.
As long as this is a wall handing I would use bits of felt glued on and keep these to a minimum
COuldn't you iron on a face?
Also that is simply stunning quilt top. |
That is adorable!!! I love the dimensional skirt!!
What an adorable quilt!! The dimensional skirt is just too cute!! Who is it for?? I like the blank face too. I would not add anything else to it.
It's for our granddaughter. I am going to make 3 more of them for Christmas. I can't make one for the one and not the others! I have actually been thinking about leaving the face off but didn't know if that would be good or not. Thank you, guys, for the input. It has really helped.
how cute is that
Leave the face off and tell everyone it's an "Amish Bunny" Quilt! I love it!

Very pretty!

It's so cute!
so cute, use a light box put the face under and trace with micro pen it makes a nice fine line. but with the batting it might not work depending on thickness and how bright light is. next ime do face first . I'm sure it will be nic what eveer ou cchoose to do
Simply adorable!! Be sure to let us know what you decide and post a pic of the face finished!
Love the quilt.
Remember when "mop dolls" were really popular? Some people made them without faces, but I can "hear" my little niece so clearly......GRANDMA....THAT DOLLY DOESN'T HAVE A FACE....
so my vote is to try & put at least eyes on your bunny....even a 3 times round french knot ???? |
This is so so so cute.... :D
Hi Christianquilter, your bunny quilt is too, too cute. I have a suggestion for her face. How about small round black beads for her eyes, a little pink pom pom for her nose, two larger white pom poms for her cheeks, a little powder blush in her ears, and a bow right between her ears!
I like it. How about just a light touch of blush on the cheeks, I like the idea of french knot eyes, any way to do whiskers?
I love your quilt.... really cute and lovely colours... maybe you could put a hat on and pull it down over where the eyes would be and all you would have to stitch would be the mouth.... just a thought !!!
You can make whiskers with monofiliment - plastic fishing string!
Although I like the idea of using a french knot, I think using button eyes would be really cute.
Love your bunny quilt! I have some old hankies that I saved and seeing your quilt square made me think that I could use some of them for skirts for dolls or bunnies. Thanks!
Oh my. Now isn't that just the cutiest. Gosh. Don't know what all you can do. If it was me. I'd have my future DIL draw me a face OR embroider it... Where did you get the pattern? Its adoreable :D
Loretta is the one who first posted the link to this. so many cute things on here! I wish I had time to try some. anyway the link is:
http://www.ohfransson.com Check it out! like I said lots of cute things. There is one that has jumbo rick rack on that is just too cute! |
Thanks again for all of your helpl! I think I might try the hat idea...I found that site, not knowing that you guys had already known about it about 2 months ago and fell in love with this doll quilt. It is so easy to do, too...You can have this finished within a few hours if you aren't interrupted. It is especially fun to dress your bunny! I think I am going to make one with a bear, a ballerina, and whatever else kind of creature that I can come up with to make them individual. Anyway...Thank you all, again, for your help, your advise, and your encouragement!
It's just adorable!!! I vote for the blank face too! I think it's just perfect as is. You do such beautiful work, your grands are gonna have a VERY Merry Christmas!!! Ya know...that little bunny gal would be beautiful on a matching Christmas Stocking Gramma :)
