Okay, this quilt is a little busy, so I really have no idea what to do for the border. It's suppose to have a white border followed by another border of black & white squares, and finally a tone-on-tone border. I was thinking that the black/white squares would be tooooo much.

I'm going to add another row and probably add a thin black border around the entire quilt. After that I'm pretty much clueless. A few errors, but not too shabby!

What ya think? Any ideas, suggestions?

This one has a OOPS square

After the thin black border, if you have leftover fabric, why not try a piano keys border from the leftovers?

Lady-T 08-27-2010 07:55 AM

Beautiful! Very bright & cheerful!

If it were mine...(hint)...I would probably do a Black & White piano key border and finish with a black binding

rndelling 08-27-2010 07:55 AM

I would do a plain color border and then bind it in black. Pick a plain out of the quilt.
I think that anything with a pattern would be too much.
Just my personal opinion.
Love the quilt, by the way.

hobo2000 08-27-2010 07:56 AM

I think a wider black border would tone it down a pinch and use leftover colors alternating for the binding.

sueisallaboutquilts 08-27-2010 07:57 AM

That's a really cool quilt! But I wouldn't do a busy border.

Grammy o'5 08-27-2010 07:57 AM

The other person's piano key border sounds interesting.
My first thought is to make the border solid, so it doesn't make it "busier".
That is a very pretty colorful quilt!

dvseals 08-27-2010 08:13 AM

I agree with hobo2000 a wide black border and leftovers for binding. Very pretty.

Ditter43 08-27-2010 08:37 AM

I can see the white border followed by the black and white and tone on tone....the black and white squares would be a continuation of the black and white in the quilt. I personally like the idea but it's your quilt so you have to make the final choice!! :D

jayelee 08-27-2010 08:37 AM

Wow beautiful quilt but you are right it makes my eyes sing I think I would love it with a wider black border and black binding

littlehud 08-27-2010 08:52 AM

I love it. So bright and vibrant. I would go with a plain border.

brenda21 08-27-2010 08:53 AM

really nice quilt...would do the piano key in leftover colors and black binding :)

dreamboat 08-27-2010 08:56 AM

White border with black binding.

Jim's Gem 08-27-2010 09:08 AM

I like the black and white piano key border idea!!

cjomomma 08-27-2010 09:34 AM

I so want your quilt!!!! I would have not even noticed the oops block if you hadn't mentioned it.
How about if you put a black boreder then a white then another black one. Whatever you decide will be perfect.

franie 08-27-2010 09:38 AM

A black border and end it there. Maybe no border at all? I also tend to black and then white as dreamboat suggested. No pieced border--would take away from the inside blocks and make it busier.

me too

Char 08-27-2010 10:23 AM

I was thinking piano keys too!

belmer 08-27-2010 10:59 AM

I agree. But be sure and make a inner border in black and then add the piano keys as your outer border.

I agree. It would frame it so beautifully!! Love the eye-popping colors!!

Janet Orfini 08-27-2010 01:56 PM

I would use the stripe.

I agree with Grammy o'5.

Mariposa 08-27-2010 06:24 PM

Perhaps a black border, then scraps of the colors pieced together for the binding. :)

Twisted Quilter 08-27-2010 07:51 PM

Thanks everyone for your suggestions. I've been playing around with everything suggested but still haven't made a decision. Hopefully I'll decide over the weekend, I'm ready to move on to my next project.

Thanks again!

I think this is a good idea.

sylviak 08-28-2010 05:43 AM

I like it with no border - just the black binding.

craftybear 08-28-2010 04:46 PM

cool quilt, have fun!

rismstress 08-28-2010 05:35 PM

I vote for a black and white checkerboard border with black binding.

Friendly Quilter 08-28-2010 06:01 PM

You could do a black border with the block triangles you used on the top. Put the triangles on the corners.

Shirlx 08-29-2010 04:09 AM

Love all the bright colors. My kind of quilt.

virginia cartwright 08-29-2010 04:13 AM

I agree. A piano border would be just perfect for this beautiful quilt.

GrandmaLola 08-29-2010 05:05 AM

I think the black and white squares would be perfect! Would make the black squares in the centers really POP!

I thought black border as soon as I saw the picture. And I can"t figure out where the oops block is!!

Quilter Day-by-Day 08-29-2010 08:47 AM

White border with a black binding.

kclausing 08-29-2010 09:39 AM

black and white border - checkerboard fabric maybe. or black and white piano keys.

G'ma Kay 08-29-2010 02:58 PM

I agree with Hobo2000

JCL in FL 08-29-2010 04:22 PM

I would do which ever is your favorite color and then bind it in black. I think it has so much going on it doesn't need anymore in the border. It's colorful any really cute. I like it.

Quiltaddict 08-29-2010 06:08 PM

I love the quilt. I'm partial to bright colors. when I can't find a border I like, a plain black border seems to frame the quilt and looks good. But not too wide, depending on the size of the quilt I like a 4-5 inch border in black.

Annz 08-29-2010 06:43 PM

Wow That is a busy but beautiful quilt.
