Butterfly QAYG Quilt
 

This quilt is made from left over blocks from a quilt I made for my aunt probably 5 years ago and forgot that I had 38 left. Giving this quilt and a pillow (only have one block left) to a gal who lost her son due to complications of being hurt in Iraq. He told her that he wanted her to send care packages to deployed soldiers and this has been her mission since his death 6 years ago. We happened to meet because I saw an article in our paper and brought her some quilts to put in the care packages. Then I brought it to our guild so the last two years we have made over 100 quilts. While she spoke to our guild in Oct. she made the comment that her son never received a quilt so that's when it was decided she needed one. Since then I have learned she is dealing with cancer, the second time. She sure has had a lot of horrible things happen to her. Plan to give it to her soon. Thanks for looking.

Agreed, the butterflies are lovely. They should help to brighten her day. Hopefully she won't need chemo, but the quilt will come in handy, if so. I understand that chemo sometimes lowers our ability to keep warm. Cuddling in a beautiful quilt is bound to help her.

What a heart wrenching story. Bless you and your guild for helping this woman honor her son's wishes by making all those quilts. The butterfly quilt for her is lovely and will certainly bring a smile to her face.

It's so beautiful. Reminds me of one of my aunt's who just loved butterflies. She passed several years ago, thank you for making me think of her, she also loved to sew.

The quilt is beautiful. So light and airy and spring..y which I could stand right now. Spring that is. It is a whole 10 degrees here. God bless her and you for making the quilts and getting others to make them for our veterans. I have been doing this with my guild and it is such a good feeling to know that they will be appreciated. I have six butterfly blocks that look a lot like yours in the picture. They were made by my grandmother, who passed away about 65 years ago. I've been planning to put them in a quilt or wall hanging, but not sure what to use with them, so havn't done anything yet.

All of you are doing such wonderful things and I know you are being blessed here and now, as well as forever for your efforts. It seems so unfair that your friend is being hit yet again with illness and suffering. Help her keep a positive attitude and let her know so many of us are in her corner.
