With the help from board members, none from Janome, a blue dot bobbin case, top tension set at 6, essential thread, top and bottom, from Connecting Threads, and lots of prayers, I have quilted A queen size with no eye lashing on the back. the quilt pattern is by Moda #230 Trees up, Lights on. I sustituted brown print for the red, and added saSHING.

SharonC 04-30-2011 12:32 PM

Love it! I think I prefer the brown vs red too. Oh, and congrats on NO EYELASHES.

thread loops that resemble eyelshes, on the back of the quilt, when doing Free motion Quilting, due to tension problems

cool quilt!

teri295 05-01-2011 03:58 AM

I love your quilt! It is adorable. Okay, I'm writing down your "recipe" for Janome successful fmq, (but realizing that might only be your machine's recipe) and will pull out my Connecting Threads and give it another good old fashioned try. If mine looks 1/2 as good as yours does, I'll be thrilled!

jeaninmaine 05-01-2011 04:01 AM

Great job.

marymm 05-01-2011 04:01 AM

i had that problem, but the cause was a warped bobbin case keeping the bobbin from turning smoothly.

PS: love the quilt

Yooper32 05-01-2011 04:25 AM

My darn enquiring mind just has to know, what is a blue dot bobbin case? Just in case. My Kenmore is Janome-made.

linken 05-01-2011 05:06 AM

A blue dot bobbin case has the tension pre-set at the factory for free motion quilting. I paid 26.50 at my dealer.

Somerset Val 05-01-2011 08:09 AM

You must feel reallly chuffed-well done!

quiltnmom 05-01-2011 08:13 AM

Beautiful quilt. I love Connecting Threads essential thread.

belmer 05-01-2011 08:22 AM

I think the brown sashing is a better choice than the red because red would make it look too much like a christmas quilt. You did a very nice job with this.

OB 05-01-2011 10:16 AM

really beautiful work
