My nephew would say one word when I asked him what kind of quilt he wanted. So I started collecting camo fabric and thought it was so ugly until I found a pattern called Lava Flow and I really kind of like it now. All the guys go crazy for it...never would have guessed it would be so popular.

valinwa 01-16-2011 11:18 PM

Nice job! He's gonna love that. I'm making one for my DGS now that's part denim, camie, and flannel. I started out just practicing piecing on scrap material, then I got to thinking how much my DGS loves camie, so....

I was trying to find the "lava flow" and realized it's the pattern I did one of my Christmas table runners in. But I didn't get a picture of it Darn it.

Looks good in your fabrics.

Was your pattern called Lava Flow? When I googled it, I didn't find anything. Looks like it would be a good jelly roll pattern.

Me too. Where is this pattern. I have chamo fabric and would love to make some charity chamo quilts for boys and I like this one.

dunster 01-17-2011 08:33 AM

Perfect for a little boy. Or a big boy, for that matter.

Easy to copy. Just cut 8 strips the same size.

I saw a block in a quilting book that I liked, sketched it and went home and copied it. 8 strips the same size. No biggie. Well, each strip----finished---has to be twice as long as it is wide. So you've got complete control over the size. I'm doing a scrappy flannel in that pattern--------at least got it started.

I bet he loves this camo quilt :D:D:D

I found the pattern in "Successful Scrap Quilts" one of my favorite books. I'll try to post pics.

justflyingin 01-17-2011 01:22 PM

Thanks for the pics.

bjnicholson 01-17-2011 01:26 PM

Great idea! I have some camo for my son's quilt but I'm going to use it on the back. The front fabric was made especially for him. It's the fish print called Elusive Catch.

xsquilter 01-17-2011 04:30 PM

Fantastic quilt! I'm another with a 10 yr old boy who loves everything camo, Army, military!
