I've fallen in love with this block, and have lots of bright fabrics to make it with, however, the person who posted it on Flickr (bemused.typepad.com) called it the 'whirling dervish' and whenever I search for that, I come up with different patterns.
Any one know a more common name for it, and especially where I can get a pattern/instructions? Many thanks for your help ahead of time! ?? Block Name & Pattern ?? |
It sorta looks like a Kaleidoscape Pinwheel, except with 12 blades instead of 8

That looks to me like a Dresden plate variation with points instead of rounded.

I think I saw it on Quilter's Cache

This is one on Quilter's Cache (without the center circle) http://www.quilterscache.com/P/Pinwheel8Block.html |

This one is really close, although it has 8 blades rather than the 12 on the original.

I found it described as an Appalachian Sunburst...It was painted on a barn and described as traditional, but I haven't found directions.
