I'd take it apart and put it together right. I know we will make mistakes, but this is too obvious - at least for me. Have fun.

I see it, but I'd think you planned it that way. You did, didn't you?

kclausing 08-29-2010 09:28 AM

depends what you are doing with it. If you are giving it for a gift, you might want to fix it. Or you tell them that the keys are being played, thus why they look opposite of the others.

It does look like pressed piano keys.

I do see what you are talking about. For me knowing it is wrong would drive me crazy until I fixed it, or if I could live with it then it's ok. I decided to leave one with a mistake and guess what every time I look at it ......yes...it's the only thing I see.

I think I make a mistake in every quilt, so I've started saying that if you can find the mistake, then you are truely a perfectionist. But most in time are forgotten. I would leave it just like it is. I love it.

Oh Golly, you have done a beautiful job but the upside down piano keys would drive me nuts. I am not a perfectionist by any stretch of the imagination so have no right to critizes. However, this is just my opinion. Maybe I am too honest.

They're there, in the lower right hand of the quilt. I'm not sure if that makes it "not right" though.

The pinwheels are all different too. I think if you want it "perfect", you should take it out and re-do it. After all, it's your work.

I made a lovely star quilt some years ago, and only after I had it quilted, bound, and actually on a bed did I realize I had made some mistakes - primarily in the way the stars were "turned" similar to the pinwheels in this quilt. I have never been happy with this quilt since. But I do remember how difficult it was putting it together. (I call it my "shingles" quilt, as I did it when I was in the throes of shingles.)

But if you are generally pleased with it, but I don't think you are exactly or you wouldn't be asking for opinions, you should leave it. I suspect you really do want it perfect, but are hesitant to begin ripping. Go for it. Whichever.

To me it looks like the piano keys are being pressed down. So you can tell everyone that you meant to do that and music is being played.

nativetexan 08-29-2010 10:55 AM

ha, ha. just say the "piano" was broken. i think it's a conversation starter myself.

They call you anal when you have to change it. I probably would have to change it. I think it is absolutely beautiful as is!!
