I heard this once, and I'm not sure whether it's true or not, but I love it anyway: the Amish always sew a "mistake" into their quilts, to remind themselves that no one is perfect except God.
Leave it.

Okay, now I see the problem, lol. It's not awful, but everything else looks so good that I think it would be worth correcting the mistake before you go any further. It's going to be a beautiful quilt when it's finished.

It is a great top!

I have to tell you that I like the effect with the piano keys just the way they are....sort of an artsy thing. I would leave it like it is. It looks like it should be in an art gallery.

I would probably fix it too - but would just do the 1/3 of the lower left so that that row is consistent - rather than redoing two sides of the border.

It is a very cool quilt.

Cheers, K

What do you think, and would you tear it up and redo the upside down piano keys that I screwed up? Keep in mind that imperfection is said to be art and originality, right?? : )))))[/quote]

I had to go over the quilt block by block to see the mistakes. Sure don't stick out. Just call it "one of those days!"

That's not a mistake...it's a design decision!

I like the interest it provides...I'd leave it as is,

Fixing it would be up to you. If it is too much work leave it but if it bothers you go for it. Otherwise it is a lovely quilt.

bjnicholson 08-27-2010 07:41 PM

Well, it's not toooooo bad. But I agree that you will never be satisfied if you don't fix it while you have the chance. At least you found it before the quilting and the binding.

It's only a mistake if it drives you crazy. I like it the way it is - lots of quilt artists INTENTIONALLY place parts of their designs non-traditionally.
