I took a quick jaunt to my favourite thrift store & this is what I got for approx. $22!
I labelled the bigger pieces & showed some of the selvages with info. The other pieces are smaller but still a good size.
There are a couple of pieces that I'm not sure are cotton, but oh well, I'm still pleased with the selection.

Is that peacock fabric in the middle of the 2nd picture?

linda701 03-20-2011 04:00 PM

Great! Cool fabric.

olgaflowers 03-20-2011 04:10 PM

Oh, love the checker spider fabric !!

butterflies5518 03-20-2011 04:11 PM

Never tired, want to see them all and enjoy your finds with you, these are great, congrats on your newest stash addition.

xsquilter 03-20-2011 04:20 PM

Barb(frugalfabrics)-yes that is! And I'm not a big fan of peacocks. Even when I'm looking at cross stitch designs, I tend to avoid those with peacocks. I know they're beautiful but just don't tickle my fancy.

Olga, the checkered spider is one of the fabrics that I'm not sure is 100% cotton...it has a different feel to it....though it still could be.

LOL...I've got that fabric!...so when I saw it, I knew it was the same one. My grandma had it in her stash and I kept it for some reason...I'm not particularly a fan of peacocks either, but I thought the piece was unique. It's quite colorful if nothing else...lol.

Went to Goodwill & could not find one piece of fabric but I did find this gorgeous store made quilt that was so hard to pass up. It was a king size pink whole cloth & the quilting was outstanding. Had 2 pink quilted shams to go with it but couldn't think of anyone who could use it. WAS SOOOO PRETTYYYYY

Nice haul. If you want to find out if it is cotton or not then take a small bit and light it on fire. Put it out and feel the burnt edge. if it has small melted bits it has a synthetic in it. Cotton will feel smooth.

Maybe a heavier weave of cotton for tablecloths or something?????

GrannieAnnie 03-20-2011 09:59 PM

Darn it, I'm going to have to go to Goodwill tomorrow. Don't need anything, but just in case there's a good stash for sale

Do you ever find fabric (or items you can repurpose) at rummage sales and yard sales?
