One of my co-workers has been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. I used the siggy block (like our exchange blocks) and had staff sign them. I put together a lap size quilt for her to take to her chemo sessions.

Total time on this project: Thursday & Friday for signatures at school. Saturday & Sunday (with time off during a 3 hour power outage) for making the top. Quilted and binding on Monday. Presented to Deb on Tuesday. 5 days total.

She happens to love the color purple-the ribbon color for pancreatic cancer-and she loves her quilt. She also collects bears-so I added a few. The rest of the fabrics are all out of my stash.

The quilt is beautiful and it was very thoughtful of you to do this. Love your use of color and various block designs. It all blends beautifully. I hope she does well; that's a nasty cancer. Glad to hear that she loved the quilt. :)

Thank you everyone! Glad you like the quilt. It just sort of evolved without a pattern. Something quick and bright.
Being without power made me miss my treadle machine. DH is using it under the TV.

I will mailing this quilt out today to my SIL's mother. She has ovarian cancer which was caught earlier. She is in her 2 round of chemo for the cancer spread to another area. Even though the doctor thought he got it all it is hard to tell. No one knows about the quilt so it will be a surprise. It should arrive in time for her birthday as well. My daughter helped pick the colors out. Teal is the color for ovarian cancer and the backing was designed for this cancer so a donation from the sell goes toward research. Because of the design I've named the quilt "Stained Glass" for it reminds me of church windows.

Purplesharon, yours is stunning, also. I've seen that backing in one of our LQS's and thought it was so pretty. Wonderful gift.

No this quilt was made from Eleanor Burn's pattern. It is a day and night pattern. from the left over pieces from the strips you get enogh to make a wallhanging and tablerunner. I haven't made the other two items yet.
