So I finally decided to do a Bigfork Bay Cotton Company applique wall hanging. Got it all fused together then put it on the background and it faded. So now I have to put a different background. Please help me decide. If you don't like any, how about suggestions?
Here's the original one #1 change - same fabric as the tips of antlers #2 idea - a hand dyed fabric I had |
Of those, I like the blue best. Perhaps you could try one with more green to simulate more forest.
Too bad you don’t have another light batik, because I like the middle one best except for the fact that your tips gets lost now. If you have a different light, like a tan that is light, but even a bit darker than the one that is there, it may pop everything out.

The blue. It looks like the sky and forest and makes the animal POP
I like the hand dyed fabric.

Wow, beautiful! I like the blue one but I also really like the first one, the one you said didn't have enough contrast. Hang a picture of each of them up and leave them up for a week or so somewhere where you will walk by them and see them often. After walking by and viewing them both for a week, you should be able to pick the one that appeals most to you. It's a little trick that I've used from time to time when I can't make a decision about something. Usually by the end of a few days I find I'm drawn to one over the other and it might work for you.
Of course, if none of the options work, just send it to me and I'll take care of it. |
I like the green idea. Making it look in it's natural environment sounds appealing. Great job on it.
I like the blue best. Perhaps a blue that looks more like a real sky color/forest color might work too.
The blue really makes the antlers pop and it feels more 3-D... I like the green background idea, too.
wow stunning,i like the blue the best
Definitely the blue. The hand dyed fabric makes it more 'artsy' as opposed to a fabric that is a specific sky or forest print...IMHO
Very nice work, my DH would love it! |
I like blue one but if it is lighter!!!! or even green and light blue
and i loved your jacket make a close up pic if u don't mind |
gorgeous on the blue.
# 3 with the blue. That makes it pop the best!! Good luck!
the blue one makes it realistic! Besides it has the pop factor.
Loving the blue!

I think I like the blue best as well. It makes the elk stand out better.
I like the second and third ones. The blue looks like the sky and maybe some trees behind it. That's a nice effect.
It looks great! |
number 2, looks like the sky and trees!!
Second one.
The blue/green backing :!:
A vote for the second one :-) All options are amazing!
I think the blue background
I really liked your original fabric the best. The blue is a little too bright to me, and the biege is too bland.
The original washes out the picture, 1st change a bit light, but the best, 2nd change I see the blue before the picture. I'd go with the lighter fabric.
I like the second one, the light colored fabric.
I like the blue - but I'm going to add something no one else has mentioned - I think the whole background should be a tad bigger. The tips of the antlers don't get enough attention!
I like the original the best. But, I am sure you will get tons of opinions on this and make a good choice by yourself. But a nice green woodsy fabric would be nice too.
I, too, think the blue is too bright. My first choice would be #1 - kind of camouflage-y, like actual critters. Then I'd go with #2 - or maybe just a little darker. The green thing that's been suggested would just do the camouflage thing again with another color.
so far the blue looks the best...but it would look nice on a forest green background I think.
Definitely the blue :)
If you go with a tan background I would go with something that is not in the antlers so that they stand out. If you use blue or green I would try and find something a little more natural looking....a batik with green leaves might be nice so he looks like he is in the woods. Very nice piece....show us a picture when you're done!!
I like #3 blue the deer stands out like 3D.
I think a pale lavenderish blue - sort of like the sky when the sun starts to set

So I went to my LQS, which has a huge selection of batiks and McKenna Ryan backgrounds. Agonized over a huge stack of bolts and narrowed it down to these five - that's in addition to the previous 3!!! Added some greens and light blues. More choices people!! Help me!
Second Set Choice #1 second set choice #3 second set choice #4 second set choice #5 |
