I think the 2nd one, the central block gives you something to focus on. Love the design and colours.

I love the mariner's compass in the middle. I've been looking at a pattern for a star design (similar to a mariner's compass) in a magazine recently. It shows a quilting design for these type of points. Although it is a bit too complicated for my inexperience, it could be simplified into something similar that is 'doable' for your quilt. Nice job on the points!

Love the color choice, my bedroom is blue and I can only dream about having something so lovely as yours on my bed.

I like both blocks, love the mariners b ut really like the other to. sence it is for a child I would maybe do a overall design.

this one isn't for my son. it is actually for a lady at church or my mom. can't decide who to give it to yet. the two blocks that I put in the center of the quilt for the pic are actually different fabric from the rest of the quilt. those middle blocks are going in my sons quilt.

The 2nd one really makes it pop.
