Cardinals and Cherry Blossoms
1 Attachment(s)
I have been working on a series of bird patterns and this is the first one. I can't seem to get a good picture of the female and I have a little more work to do on the tail and feet. She isn't as light as the picture shows. I have to thank my friend Marie who sends me so many pictures of birds. We don't have cardinals in Idaho so I didn't really know what a female looked like. They are too pretty to just save for Christmas. As with most of my pictures, this one hasn't been quilted yet. After I get through with the design I am ready to go on to the next one. I will have a weeks worth of quilting to do one of these times.

Pretty quilt!
Check here: http://www.pbase.com/bmullen/female_cardinals These seem to be some exceptional female cardinal images! You can google just about anything, then add the word "images" to the search and get page after page of what you're looking for. |
Love this piece of work, love cardinals, but how did you do it??
|
Can't wait to see it quilted!
|
These are so lovely and the cherry blossoms are so unexpected as we tend to think of Cardinals in winter with pine cones!
Have you seen Cedar Waxwings? They gather in my apple tree at blossoming. They are a similar shape and color as the female Cardinal but their plumage looks soooo silky. Thanks for sharing. |
Stunning work!!
|
You always do such great work. I love birds so I am glad to see you doing them. We do have cardinals and they are just a joy to see in the snow.
|
Love it. Very nice!
|
Outstanding, are you doing iron on or applique, the back ground is very interesting also
|
It is fusible applique. I guess I really should call it fabric collage as there are many pieces of fabric in one object. The background is hand dyed by me. Thank you for your compliments.

Your quilt is beautiful. I am a cardinal lover also. I see red cardinals all time where I live, but never knew there was a female cardinal. Would love to see the finished project.
