This is PERFECT! You have to remember that YOU don't have to like it. Vincent does! If you need to-place an alternating red/blue 3" charm around (or whatever size to come to an even number around the quilt and bind it.

It certainly does not look ugly to me. It is definitely something he will always treasure!
Looks awesome! I know he will love it! :) Going to look great finished. Can't wait to get to see it when it's done & a picture of Vincent maybe with it. :)
It looks as like a kid thinks fast and fun. I like it. I'd do borders of solid colors to pull out some of the main colors, but i wouldn't change anything on the quilt itself
How cute. Shows his personallity. Great work, and I like it.
Everytime Vincent looks at this quilt he is going to know how special he is, how much better can it get?
Bet he loves it. SO CUTE!!!!
Wonderful quilt! He will love it forever.
I LOVE this quilt... i would bind it in the chocolate brown and let him enjoy it!!!! What a truly creative piece with a "boy" in mind.... great job...
Chocolate brown binding was what we decided on because it matched the dark inner border. The quilt was sent off this morning to be machine quilted. I will be working on the label and some other things for the back while it is away. The pillow covers will also pick up the red and blue and brown and tan.
Thanks for all your tips and ideas. It helps always!!!! |
I love how you found fabric to include his favorite things. What a treasure! :)
He is going to love it
I love your quilt! It is absolutely gorgeous!
This is a pretty neat quilt for a boy!
I would have to put a lot of plants on my sons cause he is into landscaping! Vicky |
I wouldn't change a thing and Vincent will love his favorite things all in a quilt! :) It's a CUTE quilt

I have two grandsons and they would love that quilt.........I love it too......it is wonderful........it sure isn't ugly to me. Judy

Perfect. Has so many interesting things to look at and for all ages. What a fun quilt! :-)

Awwww ..... Ugliest? Never! (You still have lots of years to get to that milestone.)
Try "endearing" and "VERY personal" -- A true gem to be enjoyed for a lifetime (well, at least through several dozen washings)

The family is completely happy with this top and I am about to send it off to be machine quilted for them. Personally, I think it may win the vote for the ugliest quilt I have ever made! When it comes back and I can get a better full shot,it might look better. Most things do after they have been quilted and washed once. |
Gives a wonderful idea of who he is. I would think he will enjoy this quilt for quite some time.

Your home town is familiar territory to me. I grew up in Delevan! |
the story about the list is so cute and the quilt is darling for him.

It is great .Do not change a thing .HE WILL LOVE IT.

It's all about Vincent, if he likes it that is all that counts.
I think this is the happiest quilt I have every seen. I agree with most by using a red binding.
Sometimes when we work on something for so long we just can't see the beauty in it until we put it away for a while and then pull it out again. As far as a suggestion,I personally would remove the outside border and stop with the brown border and use a brown binding of the same color. Granted I can't see the corner pinwheels but I've tried to imagine them in the colors of the quilt and it just wouldn't work for me. I think he will love going to bed at night, looking at his quilt and dreaming about all the things he loves. You were very sweet in trying to please everyone!
Why not bind it in both red and blue? Then he would have the colors he likes.
I like it. You did a great job!
LOVE IT! It will be priceless to him.
Quilt it all with light blue thread.

It looks fine to me. Vincent will love it.
This quilt is great and full of lots and lots of love. Finish it off and let it be dragged around and loved :-D
I'd leave it as it, quilt it and bind it...
binding could be what you used for the backing or the dark brown you used in the border. It looks perfect to me. |
Vincent is one lucky little dude to get this quilt! It's lovely!!
Vincent will have something that no one else will ever have. A true one of a kind. I think it's great

Thank you all for your comments. They are very encouraging!!!

finish it fast..give it to him..let him love it..life is so short, and we think we have time to put a quilt together perfectly and that is not always so..I lost my son to cancer and never got his quilt finished..my thought is..
.life is like a quilt..don't leave pieces on the floor, pick them up , use them in the quilt of life....love and enjoy each piece..when our time here is over , we leave behind in the form of memories, a portion of lifes quilt to all we know and love, Blessings to you and Vincent |
