Some of you already know my son Carl. He has made 10 quilts for QOV from start to finish with the help of his coach.

Carl (age 14) and Cole (age 13), two of my boys are starting their own business... this is a training piece that is going to be donated to a local charity for Breast cancer Awareness month in October.
They are trying to get their all over stipple consistent. I think Carl is doing very well...He has a few areas..where he got tired last night....but he is also trying to learn how to get in and out of areas and go around appliques. Very good! ..I really only have to tell him something once and he picks it up very easily.

We used Hobbs polydown batting and he quilted this on an 18 INNOVA.

Some of you may recognize these blocks as they were part of a swap we did awhile back here on the QB!

Thanks so much!

Wow. Do they get a special treat? Great Job Boys. That has to be so much fun to have your children interested in what you do for a living. You are doing a good job, there, MOM.

HI J,
Well they are opening up their own business.. all over stipple for a penny a square inch. So that's their treat.

Carl has aspergers. And he finds this relaxing. He usually self-stems anyway. I think this is probably just another form.

Quilts of Valor,

He made 10 quilts for the soldiers.
He is thinking of joining the military when he gets older.

redquilter 09-17-2011 05:47 PM

Looks like he takes after you. I'm in awe of those boys. You must be so proud.

mrsponcho1 09-17-2011 08:18 PM

Way to go Carl - a job well done! Good luck to both boys in their business.

karenm36 09-17-2011 09:17 PM

Tell Carl that his work is encouraging me to try something more than just SID. I see your beautiful work, Charisma, and think I could never do such a good job. Yet your son who is only 14 is doing amazing work!! Granted, I think it runs in the family... ;-) but still he gives me hope that I could possibly do this some day!!! Tell him to keep up the good work!

Thank you for being so kind. He is a good boy and an artist at heart. The rest of my boys are jocks and have a certain way about them ( you know they all have their strengths and weakness'). Carl is a special boy. Thoughtful, insightful and down right good to the core. So he appreciates all the kind words everyone is saying. In a world that doesn't understand him all the time..it's good for him to hear such nice things.

thenonnielady 09-18-2011 03:17 AM

very nice

Yooper32 09-18-2011 03:20 AM

Aren't you just soooo proud? It is wonderful that you are teaching them this valuable skill and it looks like they have Mom's talent ingrained.
