Carpenter Star
 

Here is a Carpenter Star quilt I made. It measure 84" square. I really wanted to do some fancy quilting on this so I could enter it into shows. It'll be in our guilds show in Oct. I even matched the binding to match the border. A first for me. I'm hoping to put it in the Dallas show in March also.

Having enter many quilt shows including a couple of major ones in the 90s, an important item that the judges look for is perfect hand stitched binding and that the quilt lays flat. Good luck !!

Thanks for the advise! Yes, that binding is flawless, I didn't cut any corners. It does lay flat, but I had had it on the clothes line for awhile before the picture was taken. It's laying out to flatten out again now..

That is a gorgeous quilt. I have a bunch of solid Kona cotton and that would make a great one. Can you tell me what size blocks you cut to make this one? Thanks. Love love love it.

I started with 10" squares, RST to make HST. Blocks came out 10"
